Boebert is from a blue state, though, which illustrates the point. It’s not a blue state / red state divide, it’s urban and rural. And I don’t know how seccession would work for that!

Hear, hear! Unfortunately, SLC metro just got carved up even more like a Thanksgiving turkey so despite 1/3 of the state voting Dem, I doubt we elect another Democrat again until the back end of the decade. So glad voters passed the ballot initiative for an independent redistricting commission in 2018 that promptly got thrown into the trash bin by the state legislature so they could gerrymander away.
The 4th district used to be so competitive, the last couple elections went down to the wire. Now 538 has it listed as R+31. With the new maps the most competitive of the four districts is mine which is… R+23. Again, despite 1/3 of the state voting Democrat. It’s so infuriating.

I think you just end up with mass protests, riots, and general anarchy. Is that better? I don’t know.

Yeah, unless the GOP gets soundly thumped at the polls, which doesn’t look likely to happen in '22, they will continue to be openly racist and anti-democracy. The rich elite are fine with that as long as they continue to get their tax cuts, etc. I would expect to see more dismantling of social programs, ending social security with cash buyouts to people who have paid in, etc. Yes, I am pessimistic.
