My suspicion would be that Republican internal polling has shown that they’re making good headway with the whole education thing, the boogeyman of Critical Race Theory upending classrooms. The idea of doing away with standardized tests, doing away with math as a tool of oppression, doing away with meritocracy in general. Greater meritocracy is what attracts a lot of Asians, including muslims, to this country. So she was likely told not to antagonize a group that could vote for Republicans in the coming elections.

Boebert told a dumb and offensive joke and apologized for it. I don’t think she was implying that it actually happened, but that’s beside the point. The point is that Boebert thinks “Muslims = suicide bombers” is a perfectly acceptable joke to make. In certain circles – namely, anyone affiliated with the GOP – she’s right.

Eventually the desiccated hand of Mitch McConnell will become a powerful and sought after artifact. While the democrats will attempt to destroy it, at the last minute Kyrsten Sinema will chop off her own hand, replace it with the hand of Mitch McConnell, and using its power teleport away to a prepared location from which she can prepare for the next phase of her scheme. This will take the democrats by complete surprise. Even though the rest of the party should have recognized her chaotic nature and that she only joined the party in the first place for her own gain. In retrospect people will say someone should have at least taken notice of the desiccated flesh clutch purse she had brought on the expedition. Though at the time most just wrote that off to her quirky nature rather than an attempt to match.

I think Beto is making fun of this part of Abbot’s tweet:

“Immigrants have recently been apprehended crossing our border illegally from South Africa.”

I.e. which in Beto’s view is dumb since no one is smuggling themselves onto ships in South Africa and then disembarking in Texas.

Being charitable to Abbot, you could say that Abbot meant that people started their journey in South Africa before illegally crossing the Southern border into Texas. But there’s really no reason to be charitable to Abbott since his overall point is false, stupid, and in the service of racism and fascism. Overall, not really one of the high points of discourse in our Republic.

That people crossing the southern border are generally from south and central America, not south Africa which does not have a border or land route to the US.

Abbot is banking on the racism, stupidity, and geographic ignorance of his base.
