Yes, I’m sure he’ll be held accountable for that lie.

Rand Paul just out and out saying that democrats legally voting constitutes stealing an election.

ā€œSooo, campaigning, registering and educating voters is somehow illegal now, Senator?ā€

The report he’s talking about is pretty damned crazy. It goes on and on in a clearly hysterical voice about what seem to be perfectly legal and ethical things voting officials did in Wisconsin to make it easier for voters to navigate the voting process during a pandemic.

E.g. it talks about voting officials in one location announcing that you could use a mail ballot as a shut-in person if you personally thought you were too frightened to go to an actual polling place because of COVID. This actually made it to the Wisconsin Supreme Court, in a challenge that said it was encouraging voters to break the law by lying. The Court said, apparently, meh, it’s up to voters to decide if they can go out or not. This is presented in the report in a tone that makes it seem as if the Court came to the opposite conclusion.

Edit: lol this response to that thread.

Sounds like his earthen vessel was a honey pot.

I’d like to say there’s no way they are that stupid, but, hmmm, life finds a way.

This guy seems to have an absolute fetish for sitting in front of a camera and telling people how stupid he is.

Someone else on Twitter pointed out that Cauthone is the perfect Russian spy target because he’s 1) young, 2) dumb and 3) lies a lot.

Edit: and… there are no casino’s in St Petersburg. And… it’s a crazy long boat ride to St. Petes from wherever he claimed to be staying.

…what?

He wrote that after a 3 martini lunch, right?

If he is pro family then he supports the child care expansion in BBB, I presume.

Edit: Also Mr Hall’s plan to make most Americans into serfs is going to run into a big problem when he realizes he let them keep the 2nd Amendment. He’s saying land because cities have much lower home ownership, but if he thinks every redneck with an AR-15 owns their home and can pass a literacy test he’ll be shocked.

That thread is full of gems like this:

Darkly amusing in a thread with these same people arguing for civics knowledge requirements to vote.

It’s broadly true, unfortunately. There’s no Constitutional right to vote for instance, and it’s been necessary to pass Amendments and laws to expand the franchise and expand access to voting. States can prohibit people from voting based on factors like age (under 18), felony conviction, registration status, and lack of proper ID.

There is no constitutional right to vote for President, but I’m pretty sure there is a constitutional right to vote for members of the House and the Senate, and the right to vote for the House was included in the original Constitution prior to any amendments.

The right to vote is subject to some putative ā€˜reasonable’ restrictions. Things like registration and voter ID are presented as ways to make it possible to confirm that you’re actually a citizen and as ways to facilitate administering the actual voting process.

I’m surprised they just don’t say the quiet part out loud. Voting is a right for whites but not for anyone else.

I once worked with an idiot who argued that only property owners should be allowed to vote. He never really had an answer for the problem of laws being applied to non-property owners without those same non-property owners not being allowed to vote on them. Well, his answer was they should pull themselves up by their own bootstraps and buy a house!

In case anyone needs a brisk facepalm to help them wake up this morning…
