As far as I can tell, Republicans had zero problems with voting by mail until Trump starting complaining about it.
It’s like I was watching brainwashing in realtime. A conservative coworker of mine had no issues with mail in voting the past couple elections here but sure enough, a week after Trump harping on it, he’s asking me “Hmmm, what do you think about this voting by mail thing? I’m not sure it’s secure…”. I asked him to explain how voting by mail was less secure and he admitted he couldn’t really come up with anything, nor could he come up with a method whereby voting by mail could be used for large-scale voter fraud. Yet a few days later, he’s taken a position against voting by mail since he “doesn’t trust it”.
And here we are, over a year past the election and the GOP is still against voting by mail. It just leaves me shaking my head.
Not enough facepalms.
“Of course voting should be just as inconvenient as this current terrible, no good, shitty situation re: COVID testing!”

I’m very skeptical of this. I think Tucker’s happy raking in his mountains of money and grifting the rubes.
I’m not sure he has a desire for more direct political power, and all the problems that will come with it.
I’m pretty sure that one of the core Republican demographics — old folks — vote frequently by mail / absentee ballot. Probably varies by location and jurisdiction.

He’s in my, “I hope so” camp, no way his smarmy fancy lad who’s angry thing televises well outside of the deranged 27%.

My favorite picture of Cruz. One of my buddies says: “How does he look his wife in the eyes after Trump made fun of her and then he had back the turd?”

He doesn’t. He keeps his gaze upon his shoes or she slaps him.
Me: Okay, first lets make proof of voting mandatory for flying, dining in restaurants, going to work, etc.

No wonder his daughters revile him. I’m sure that’s ratcheted up to 11 now.

We can always hope he will run so he will have to leave Fox News for the campaign.

I would just like to say that I was once permanently banned from Twitter for calling Mollie Hemingway a whore. I regret nothing.
Actually, that’s not quite true, in that actual sex workers are perfectly fine people. They exchange use of their bodies for money, and that’s fine. Hemingway sells herself to morally reprehensible purposes.

And then she woke up. Sweating. Tangled in soggy sheets.

Mollie longs for someone to call her ugly and her husband to then become that person’s lap dog.
Texas GOP twitter guy is like, twelve? The level of discourse is giving me Barrens Chat flashbacks.
Dude, the GOP is against any form of voting that isn’t a vote for them. It really comes down to that.
I hope everyone realizes that when the GOP takes control of at least hte House in a year, that if the Dem candidate wins in 2024 that same House is going to refuse to certify the election results. They’re going to demand that GOP-controlled state assemblies conduct audits, fire and replace electors, etc. This is going to happen unless we see a 1984-style electoral college crushing by the Dem. And that isn’t going to happen.
I’m not sure how we recover from such a self-inflicted wound. Maybe, in the long run, the ensuing chaos will be a good thing for future generations. Maybe the silver lining here will be the opportunity this could present to truly fix deeply-rooted structural flaws in our 18th-century derived govt. I just hope when all hell breaks loose, and I know I’m going full Timex/Armando here, but a not insignificant part of me hopes that during the inevitable riots and civil unrest the mob comes for the politicos who’ve enriched themselves after years of pumping mistrust, misinformation, and outright lies into the airwaves. The mob roots them out of their mansions, burns the latter to the ground, French-style, and seeds several generation’s worth of fear as a cautionary tale to those who would seek to do similar to whatever form of govt arises from the ashes of what was once the America we knew.
