This is such an empty analysis. Manchin is probably the only Dem that could win in WV, and there are basically no other Dems in the same electoral situation that Manchin is in who need to be taught any lesson at all. If he’s going to lose anyway, there’s no reason to primary him! Just take the votes he’ll give you now and ignore his nonsense for the rest and go win some Senate seats in more reasonable states.

Yeah, this. We need to make Manchin irrelevant, and we should spend zero time and money thinking about his electoral prospects. He’s a reliable Democratic vote for judges (which will be VERY important if Breyer retires this year) as well as other issues.

I just don’t see enough crossover voters in West Virginia anymore. He barely squeaked by in 2018, and the state is now redder than 2018, and I doubt 2024 will be as good an environment as 2018, even if Biden wins again.

I’d argue Cheri Beasley has a better chance of re-election than Manchin (though I suspect both lose, Beasley will get a higher vote percentage)
