It’s available in pdf form on the web… I’m not sure exactly what the copyright deal is with it?

It’s on archive.org as well.

Wouldn’t doubt if we find more and more of the people trying to ban books are degenerates themselves. Projection seems to be one of the defining traits of today’s Republican.

Certainly the cries of “WON’T SOMEBODY THINK OF THE CHILDREN?!” when banning books takes on a new meaning.

The number of criminals this induces to vote for him is dwarfed by the number he killed from Covid lies. So day late and a dollar short buddy.

Plus, I’d like to think it would further encourage loads of people to vote against him.

When I grew up, I went to a US military school in the UK for children of overseas servicefolks.

They taught us about the Holocaust by bringing in a survivor, showing us the tattoo, and giving us all the atrocities- in 1st grade.

That was one of what I think was the formative events that shaped my beliefs, though it took time to process it right.

I think it was that, the Oliver Cromwell museum, the French Revolution, and my realization over time that I was queer which made me believe what I believe.

I grew up in central California in a neighborhood full of Armenians, with several Armenian teachers. I knew about the Jewish Holocaust by 6th grade, but I never understood about the Armenian Genocide until much later. Even today it is not official US policy for political reasons.

Carnac!

I read Shirer’s “Rise and Fall of the 3rd Reich” in high school after reading Wouk’s “Winds of War” and “War and Remembrance” my sophomore/junior years.

Can’t find an english version?

That actually is the English version (just clicked to double-check). Edit: Maybe you clicked the first link (which I didn’t intend to be a link as it just points to the home page) and searched? Try the second link instead.

Facts First : There is no record of Voltaire ever uttering these words. The quote is commonly attributed to Kevin Alfred Strom, a neo-Nazi who pleaded guilty in 2008 to possession of child pornography. Strom uttered a similar quote during a virulently antisemitic 1993 radio broadcast.

For those wondering WTF the quotation is, yet unwilling to hurl themselves down another one of Shiva’s Mystery Outrage Holes, it’s this:

“To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize.”

As Beau points out, it’s a pretty dumb quote, even if you look past the fact that it was mis-attributed.

I literally just finished watching that, and he’s spot on.

Betty White and Dolly Parton don’t rule us.
