He was APPALLED, APPALLED I TELL YOU.

Yeah, I would like a more in depth analysis of this trend day by day. Perhaps take the union of topics that were in the top 10 on any day over the last month, and plot their ranking over the last month, then color by political lean. That gets rid of the outlier selection of a specific day, and lets you see if trends are actually rising/falling by more natural cycles or being ‘spiked’ in. More simplified plot: by day fraction of red/blue/neutral topics in the top 10.

[Technically, we’re just removing ONE of the many influences on social media and we’re still blind to the rest. But it would be really cool to see.]

I was trying to see a clear break around last Saturday, and I think it’s there, just not as sharp as the original graphic would suggest.

Hey, we finally found the voter fraud.

I’m sure Garland is readying the indictments as we speak, right?

That’s gonna be a state crime, innit?

I keed. We all know that lying about your residence in order to register to vote is never a crime when a white Republican does it.

Speaking of which

Yeah, but how do you know that kid wasn’t asking for it?

Just, just.

How the hell is possible to ban people from traveling to another state. The US isn’t China, or Russia you don’t need papers to travel from one state to another (Health dept. rules being the exception).

IANAL, but doesn’t this violate the interstate commerce clause. Any lawyers want to weigh in on why this is or isn’t constitutional?

IANAL either, but it’s plainly unconstitutional. On the other hand, Alito is there, waiting to find some new novel meaning of the commerce clause.

we have five votes, thats why?

seriously, the supreme court has not been making decisions based on precedent this session. listening to the strict scrutiny podcast for the last couple of years has really driven that home.

If anyone doubts that some see The Handmaid’s Tale as a goal

This is, obviously, not going to hold up in court.

Probably not, but how much damage will be done as any potential cases wind their way though the system?

one would think that osha could promulgate regulations about health and safety in the workplace, but the supremes say otherwise. alito is a real piece of work, not to mention thomas’s blatant inconsistencies, kavanaugh - well hes kavanaugh, and goresuch’s strict textualism unless it interferes with his conservative feelings. barret has actually shown some surprising ethical standards, even if they are based in religion rather than law. we are well and truly fucked at the sc level currently, as they do not seem to care about precedent or consistency, and while roberts did care that the court appear to be unpartisan, that doesnt much matter now.

this is the ‘we have at least five, so go fuck yourself’ court, at least so far.

Don’t panic, this won’t survive an appeal court, much less SCOTUS

It would survive the 5th Circuit (so would barring contraception, return of slavery and the disenfranchisent of women)

I doubt it, but it is in the 8th, which has the highest percentage of Republicans, worse than the 5th, so it might.

I mean, I think it gets at least two votes on SCOTUS. Alito votes for anything Republicans want to do, and Thomas doesn’t really believe in the federal government.
