The normal person in me chuckled. The physics pedant said âOnly true if youâre talking about ordinary matter, which only comprises 20% of the mass in the universe.â
Itâs a trap! If you understand it, you donât belong in the party!

I know this isnât what weâre doing but Iâm curious, dark energy vs. dark matter. My basic understanding is that dark matter was matter that we could infer from how it interacts with visible bodies, I assume primarily by gravity? Whatâs our âHuh, whatâs that?â with dark energy? First thought is that they could be interchangeable. Also, my understanding of dark matter is matter that acts in ways that matter does, re: gravity, but has no detectable surface as far as the EM spectrum, thus âdark.â

Thereâs not enough visible matter in galaxies to explain their rotation speed (and other phenomena.) So dark matter is whatever the extra mass is.
Dark energy is implied by the expansion of the universe. Itâs needed to square the equations of general relativity with observation.

Your first point, I get/got, your second point I need a bunch of help. Whatâs the behavior that is out of bounds that dark energy satisfies? Square/cube law?

Well⌠itâs not about food⌠:)

Itâs not like we need to keep on a tight rail discussing whether the GOP is corrupt, eh? If it gets too annoying Iâm perfectly willing to go to EE and listen to crickets. ;)

Well to be fair, food often creates dark matter. Or am I doing JMJâs schtick?
Specifically the accelerating expansion of the universe.

Everybody relax, I read the Wiki, and I am now a backreaction conjecture bigot; deal with it.
I had to clean the coffee off my monitor after that one!
More legally ok, but morally corrupt behavior. Thanks Citizens United!
