Maybe Democrats (sub)consciously make the distinction that while Trump may have been head of state for the USA, he was never really a leader

Or, for good and bad, they’re not that concerned about their own country’s own failings.

I tend to view Trump and Putin as part of the same thing. Some Dems might be blaming Putin for Trump as well.

I’ll admit, I’ve wanted this level of sanctions on Putin for a long time just for that.

Trump is also out of power right now, that might be a factor, he’s no longer a world leader.

Or they’re mostly not crazy enough to think that, right now, while Putin is prosecuting an aggressive war of conquest in Europe, one which is just a series of awful war crimes, he’s more likable than Trump is.

Among the Democrats’ many sins, I honestly don’t believe this is one.

These results seem to fit the stark difference in worldview that the pandemic revealed largely across political lines. Look out for one another vs. freedom to do as I please.

So for Democrats the question is taken in a global context while Republicans are choosing their answer based on the ultra-local, like how the leader effects me personally. Who cares about foreigners? I guess it’s easier to be angry than to know things.

I think it’s more that a lot of Republicans believe insane things about Democrats in general and Joe Biden in particular — that he is a satanic baby-eater — which beliefs more or less demand that he be their first choice. And Democrats mostly don’t believe similarly insane things about Republicans or Trump.

No need to believe insane things, the true things are plenty bad enough!

Indeed!

Why not both?!

But, yeah, that’s where the both-sides thing really makes a mess of things. Like, laughing off our voluminous and super-valid objections as ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’. And if voters start doing it, so can their elected representatives during an impeachment trial. It’s almost like democracy requires participation.

The circumstances is so different between when Trump was in office and today, that I find it virtually impossible to draw any conclusions.

If the poll had been run in 2019, I possibly would have put Trump in first place, and certainly 2nd place, behind Putin. However, prior to 2016, I never would have put in US leader in first or second place.

I mean in the sense that worrying about their own country should be everyone’s priority, but that poll hardly shows that any group does, and couldn’t, because it’s dumb, so nevermind.

Uh, what?

In Neal Stephenson’s book Fall, or Dodge in Hell, he imagines a future dystopia where large sections of the population are trapped in a social media landscape being fed algorithm-generated content conditioning them for some commercial or political purpose. The content they consume has devolved into incomprehensible gibberish. Seems we’ve reached that point.

Biden’s focus is on the tobacco industry being immune from prostitutes being sued…

I can’t even parse this. I’m surprised Boebert’s scrambled egg of a brain can even manage automatic functions like breathing.

I think she got Timex-ed. She was going with “immune from prosecution”, but of course couldn’t spell prosecution, got auto-corrected to prostitutes, then changed direction to “being sued” but forgot to deleted the prostitutes.

I need a shower because it feels like I am defending this dirtball.

How many times she fail the GED test?

Ima guess all of them.

I read it as Biden is starting his own economy, with hookers and tobacco.
