Make that “…look at everything and see a world they don’t want to exist…” and you have it I think.

Not just a world, people they don’t want to exist.

You’re right, but having watched a bit recently FoxNews is pretty much 24/7 showing people other news channels with the most provocative bits edited in, so in a sense they have a great understanding of what’s going on outside of FoxNews, provided it’s something to make them angry.

Psst, people are part of the world. Did you think TheWombat was saying conservatives don’t want, like, certain mountain ranges or bodies of water to exist?
Well, Lake Titicaca sounds maybe trans, so yeah, probably.
So wrong, but so funny. Good one.

I guess McCarthy needs to put out another denial now that the tape is public.

That’s actually a potentially fascinating story. I wish there was more reporting on it. (Disclaimer: I have family roots on both sides in Kootenai County.)

Posting the audio for those who have not heard it. Pretty infuriating that this is being discussed with Liz Cheney, of all people.
also, I love Frum’s take:

That is a fascinating story and I hope more disgruntled Republicans follow their lead. But when the article says this:
It’s a direct result of, they say, a takeover of the Republican Party by libertarians, constitutionalists, and John Birch society members.
Does that mean that this splinter group is still comprised of Trumpists, authoritarifans, Leviticans, scam artists, flat-or-no taxers, white supremacists, misogynists, homophobes, gun nuts, and Russian assets? Or is that all covered by the John Birch types they are distancing themselves from?
In reading the article, I took it that the splinter group are the “Reagan Republican” types, which the Trumpists, et al, refer to as “RINOs” since they are more measured and less in your face about their bigotry, grifting, homophobia, gun-nuttery, tax breaks for the wealthy, etc.

MTG 14th amendment hearing live:
Her attorney is really bad at this. MTG tried to perform and give speeches but was shut down and is being treated as an adverse witness.

Holy shit is MTG squirming. She basically committed perjury but caught herself at the last second. Her attorney desperately made a ridiculous objection to interrupt.
She is in full I don’t remember mode. Every single question.
Her attorney just saved her again when made a denial but quickly changed to a I don’t recall.

I can’t imagine she’ll be barred from running again, it seems like evil seems to live forever.

Yeah, it’s a real long shot. I think it’d be tough to suggest that MTG actively participated in an insurrection. Even encouraging one via Twitter probably isn’t actionable.

She is unlikely to be barred. The judge just makes a reccomedation to the secretary of state.

Keep in mind that MTG is not real popular in the GOP at this point… I think she’s generally regarded as way more trouble than she’s worth, so I’m thinking a lot of Republicans would be more than happy to see her barred from running.
Those same Republicans could join with Democrats and evict her from the House today, if they really felt that way. So I’m guessing that no, they don’t really feel like they think she is too much trouble, or that they would be happy to see her gone.
