CTE…

I’ll give the dude credit for not getting flustered when he was asked about it. A less poised interviewee would quit the interview or get visibly angry. The guy kept to his talking points, so he was either very well coached or is just naturally good at deflecting. That goes for all the interview bits that were posted.

He’s a shithead though.

I went thru the candidates info that the state sent out yesterday. There are a few socialists, but the number of republicans and “no party” candidates who condemn the COVID vaccine is amazing. Some real nuts, and by their own words, while they don’t mention Trump there is little doubt what group they are courting.

This shows the ignorance of GOP voters as much as him being a creepy scumbag murderer.

Eh. Its the Township Board. I would expect the extent of most voters research is thumbing through the ballot pamphlet, seeing the R or D next to a name and checking the box. If they read the pamphlet I’m willing to bet the little blurb next to this guy didnt mention that he’s in jail.

Sharia law, the US version, coming soon.

The township population is 1,500. Seems like he would’ve been a thing people knew about.

Not included in that Daily Mail link:

Election data shows that Wilhoite received 60 votes, while two other Republican candidates for the three seats received 106 and 100 votes. No Democratic candidates were on the ballot in the Clinton Township Board primary, but non-Republican candidates still could make the ballot by November, WXIN-FOX59 reported.

That’s from here:

Not sure I’d be too quick to hand-wave people knowingly voting for him. Look at Voldemort, key architect of the greatest Medicare fraud in US history, felon 18x over, and Republican voters made him FL gov and then a US senator. We’re in uncharted waters, and so long as right-wing media is able to continue poisoning the public square with its lies and propaganda, things will continue getting worse. Political norms have been weakened, traditions ignored, respect for honoring customs increasingly lacking. . .we’re in the final stage of American democracy. What comes next is anyone’s guess.

AKA ‘Our plan is working’ - The GOP

Already here in many places. Just expanding…

The Christian right and the Islamic fundamentalists have far more in common than they realise.

I’m just about ready to snap

The headline is horrible, and while refusing to educate immigrants is bad I don’t see them eliminating free public education as the headline states.

It’s actually a challenge to the idea that non-citizens within the US and its territories are protected by the constitution. That’s a pretty terrible and far-reaching thing to go after! And it is happening at the same time that others have suggested that birthright citizenship doesn’t mean what we think it means.

If only there were a handy definition of conservatism that might explain the desire to remove out-groups from the protection of the law…

You are unaware of the charter school movement then?

Privatizing primary education is, for example, the DeVos raison d’être. Which is, of course, why she was Trump’s Secretary of Education.

I guess Steve Schmidt and Meghan McCain got in a twitter spat of some sort. Steve proceeds to post a short history of the McCain presidential campaign. (There’s no roll up so anyone interested will be forced to read a series of short sentences.)
