Look if they don’t have the receipts, or if the interpretation of the receipts they do have depends on an escort and the dude who “facilitated” her, then that’s not a very strong case. It is what it is, unless there’s good reason to believe some sort of fix was in. I’ve been a little skeptical of this case b/c of the delays and also just the general questionable-ness of the credibility of the people involved.

This for me. Either the long delay was due to the evidence being so juicy that it opened a whole can of worms leading to a string of investigations, or they were trying to squeeze water from a stone and it just wasn’t working.

Remember the olden days when it took much much less than this for a party to force a Congressperson to resign? Like taking a picture on a USO tour where you joking acted inappropriately towards someone? Our elected officials reflect the current values of the constituents that elected them. Politician behaviors get their approval because that’s how they behave and think themselves. It tells you a little something about the current state of our country. We’re headed towards a dark place but it’s not like we aren’t asking for it collectively as a country. The America I knew growing up is deader than dead at this point.

I think this is certainly true with some fraction of the electorate. But I think a lot of it is just the media bubble where all of this scandalous stuff is conveniently ignored most of the time and the few times it does come up it comes with some nice excuses about why it isn’t so bad, doesn’t matter, and you don’t really have to care. Also, whatabout this terrible scary thing they are doing? Let’s talk about that instead.

Granted, living safely inside your media bubble and never venturing out for any other viewpoints is still a poor reflection on the electorate and ultimately I guess ends up back at your point just with an extra layer.
