Sorry my bad phrasing, I added a correction with the original above:

Zero of the senators or house representatives from Florida voted for it.

I’m starting to agree with that Florida Man bullshit.

I saw a clip from a CNN video (1) where someone was interviewing Rubio and asked why he said no and his response was there was a bunch of other stuff that “was not disaster related, like a new roof for a museum” and the interviewer explained to him that the museum (and other things he listed) were from disasters, even if they weren’t all from this disaster, and he basically ignored her. She then asked if he would not sign a bill that would provide financial relief for FL hit by Ian if it contained anything else and he said “No.”

I wish it instilled in me the hope that FL would finally flush these turds. I really do.

(1)

To be clear, I wasn’t calling your statement bullshit, I was saying that their reasons were likely bullshit.

Rubio is so fucking unbelievably weak and useless. Remember when he was the ‘rising star’ of the GOP? Lmfao.

He’s thirsty for it.

If people can’t afford to rebuild their homes, his donors can buy the property at pennies on the dollar and develop it for big returns.

This isn’t complicated.

Uh, okay, sorry for being obtuse I guess?

I feel like GOP voters are so terminally stupid/brainwashed that they’re OK with no FEMA aid following a catastrophe.

They will blame Biden because Fox will tell them to blame Biden.

I see people are going to have a lot of fun with the photo of DeSantis touring devestated areas with pristine white boots.

Because of course Hershel Walker paid for an abortion:

We know Trump paid for abortions, too, but it literally doesn’t matter to the pro life people.

I wonder who paid for more between the two. Oh, wait, Trump never pays his bills, so that’ll be Walker.

While DeSantis is obviously untouchable (being a powerful white male Republican that gives milquetoast Merrick Garland nightmares), I look forward to seeing Perla getting the book thrown at her.

Been hearing this a lot:

The answer is: his wife has control over that fund.

I hear that a lot - money is easier to handle logistically than specific goods - but I sure as hell don’t trust them to be the stewards of it.

While that is in fact totally shady and crap, the idea that you should donate money instead of food and water is something that is pretty standard in most disaster situations that I’ve seen before. It’s way easier for the folks handling the situations to get resources around if they can just use money, instead of collecting stuff from donations, storing it somewhere, and then distributing it elsewhere.
