Hartzler further called the bill “unnecessary,” and said that “Obergefell is not in danger,” a reference to the Supreme Court’s ruling in the Obergefell v. Hodges case in 2015 requires all states to recognize same-sex marriages and issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

Pretty sure we’ve been fed that line recently. Can’t remember what it was about, though…hmmmm.

Hartzler, who’s been in Congress since 2011, will not be returning in 2023 after losing her campaign for an open Senate senate seat.

Nelson says “HAHA”

Wow, she really is a piece of work…

I wish someone would ask her what she means by “we would have won.” Does she envision that Trump would have been forcefully installed as President somehow? Does she see dead bodies in her head to make it so?

Trump was still president on 1/6. My guess is the insurrection would have allowed Trump to declare a national emergency and do all sorts of mischief. The question I have is not only how far Trump would have gone (the guy’s a coward) but how far the military would have followed him?

Well, he would stop being President on January 20, no matter what happens or doesn’t happen on January 6. Hard to get around that. Maybe Biden is President, or maybe Pelosi is President, but Trump is no longer President. I don’t think there is any way the military or the DOJ or the DHS put up with any pretense otherwise.

I hope Ron is right (and he is often right).

Had no idea she is for defunding the police.

One reason why the GOP is so corrupt? Even when they have someone elected to do the right thing, their corrupt owners kick them out.

Corruption seems to be the only thing the Republicans are about anymore, and it’s especially true in the South with a capital S.

Fake news reports on fake candidate.

Non-NYT re-reporting of the story:

It really needs to be underlined how crazily this guy lied and how much the Democratic party dropped the ball with basic opposition research.

Look at these whoppers:

  • Had four employees killed in the Pulse nightclub shooting
  • Rescued 2500 animals
  • Owns 13 properties and makes 2-5 million dollars a year

Meanwhile he has two lost civil cases on the books for 12k in unpaid rent that should have showed up in a name search.

What were those campaigns doing? Sounds like these were very winnable districts. How did they do zero opposition research?!

If I had to guess, they were afraid of being accused of racism.

It is weird. None of Zimmerman’s campaign ads mention any of this stuff. NY-03 is one of the main districts affected by the New York redistricting snafu. It went from safe D to toss-up. Spending in the district wasn’t inconsiderable at about $3 million per candidate, so you’d expect to have seen some oppo research.

There’s quite a bit of evidence that just the overall “management” of the NY House campaigns was poor. The DCCC chief lost his re-election in one of those districts and was apparently travelling instead of campaigning near the end, and I just get the sense that the Dems just didn’t put together a good aggressive plan to contest a number of those districts. I mean, missing this level of oppo vulnerability is like political malpractice IMO. It makes one wonder what was going at the leadership level.

No, it was because the NY state democrats didn’t gerrymander enough, where it is a good thing, because it helps the democrats instead of republicans.

Nothing to do with the fact that the NY state democrats have run historically awful campaigns and put no effort into actually winning races.

There’s one beer loving good time party boy that wants none of that.
