It’s my favorite beer, can’t get enough of it. Very hoppy, obviously. I have a horrible time describing flavors, so I won’t even try. What IPA are you drinking? Now that I trying to be a real adult I won’t drink more than 3, and so I am almost done.

I do the same thing. Gemcraft is great for short sessions though, so I can do a level or two, take a break and come back to it. Anything that seems like a large time investment I tend to avoid anymore.

I mean, I commend you for being more of an adult than me at 52. Then again, it’s Saturday, I don’t have kids and did I mention it’s Saturday. :)

I started with Wooden Robot’s “That’s What He’s Having” IPA. An excellent, and slightly lighter IPA (6.5%.) It’s less West Coast and a little more NEIPA style. But that was the last of it. Unfortunately it’s entirely Charlotte local than I can tell, they make great stuff so that really needs to change.

Now I"m drinking a more distributed Foothills Jade IPA. It uses Jade hops which bot me and my SO really like, they are unique and taste somewhat fruity, but still traditional NW hop-like. Hard to describe, but a smoother and slightly less bitter hop that passes along just a slight fruity citrus taste versus some of the latest over-the-top variants. Describing it is hard, it’s a fairly bitter beer that doesn’t taste that way. Something about the hops evens out the shock of a big bitter beer. Or maybe it’s just less dry than other beers, who knows. Of the ones we can purchase easily local to us, it is our favorite. It comes in at 7.4%.

When I’m in that light gaming mood, I have literally 3 games on my phone or tablet I play: a multi-solitaire app, sudoku, or a puzzle app. Like actual puzzles with pieces. I feel like an old fart playing them, but they are easy, light and pass the time.

I mean more of an adult for me, which is a low bar. :-)

I have drank as much as I wanted to, whenever I wanted to, for most of my life. Now it’s time to cut back before I kill myself with it. Not to be over dramatic or negative, but it has had a negative affect on my wellbeing, so for the last couple of years I have been more conscious about how much I drink.

I wasn’t aware there was a difference. I haven’t had a lot of chances to try east coast beers though. You don’t see them here in WA.

This is familiar. My time is often so fractured and late that the things I want to play I can’t commit to play.

Prime example, EU IV. By the time my computer starts, Steam updates because fuck you I only have 40 minutes, and all that? Been 10 minutes, maybe more. Then it takes 20 minutes to load the game and get back into the headspace. What was I doing, what is the tactical situation, what is my goals? 20 minutes pondering the map before really diving in.

Whoops I ran out of time.

So annoying.

On a whim I put Kraken rum in my coffee. It’s so bad. But I can do this!

My eyes are watering.

I did it! I’m going to bed now.

My wife went through a period where she loved kraken. Then she tried to fancy it up by doing a habanero infusion, and used 8 oz of peppers in a liter of rum, and let it sit for a few days.

Her first drink broke the curse and she was free of the kraken!

Indeed, one might even say that your wife … released the kraken?

Love to everyone.

Two cocktails (a rye old fashioned and an angustura sour) plus a glass of nameless white wine and I’m in a mood to get serious.

Bourbon, here we come.

I’ve been drinking this really smooth and not too expensive bourbon called Larceny lately. A little too much, it goes down so smooth it’s a bit dangerous. But good! Plus it has a cool bottle.

I always make sure I have a bottle of Larceny around ever since I grabbed one at Costco on a whim a couple years ago. Agreed that it’s very nice stuff for its price point.

This could go in the random thought thread. But for reasons, I’m drinking now. The wife has a friend in town and she… grates upon my frontal lobes.

Anyway, I’m watching Outlaw Josey Wales. This is one of those movies that, when they are on, I watch them. Or it. Or something.

I used to purely love Eastwood movies. The he went senile and demented. I avoid his films now. But not this one. This one has Chief Dan George. I was part of his fan club for a while.

Jinx! Larceny is what I was drinking last night!

OK. I also had some Elijah Craig Small Batch. And some High West American Prairie.

It was a good night.

Oh, and tonight is a lovely pinot meunier rosé from Laherte Frerès.

Preach. I still watch many of his movies, his political shenanigans aside. I file it under old-white-man syndrome. Clutching to what he thinks is important but really is now a time long past. But the movies are something I cling to and hold dear. So who am I to judge.

The SO and I had a brownie and watched the original Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventure in all of it’s horrible silly comedy and over-the-top dude-ism. And we had a good time. And we were both reminded why we can never watch Keanu in anything without thinking of him in that movie.

Be excellent to each other.

After a rough week I indulged tonight in some red wine a cigar and some Japanese whiskey distributed by Diageo. Life is good but I’m tired.

My kid loves this movie. First time he watched it, he laughed so hard he threw up, which I think is the appropriate response.

Indeed it is. It’s so old. You don’t realize how old things are when you watch them while young. When you’re old though, you see obscure things like hairstyles, or hear lingo that’s long since its enjoy-by date, or for all things, see the mall scenes in Bill and Ted and think of that as such a completely different time than now.
