Basil Hayden was my first intro to bourbon that was good by itself, and didn’t need to be mixed to be tolerable. Always have a soft spot for it because of that. Nice choice.

I’ve had a few dogfishhead 120 minute IPAs tonight. I didn’t know they were 15-20 ABV until I realized I should probably be posting in the drunk thread instead of the coronavirus one.

Heh, that’s funny - I hadn’t thought of Dogfish Head for the better part of a decade until today, when I was in Marty’s and they were basically trying to dump the 120 at $5 a bottle. I grabbed one for old time’s sake but we were more on wine tonight. Still, in 2010 I’d have been hunting around for that, paying $10 or more a bottle, and probably a 1-2 per purchase limit. How far craft beer has come.

Yeah, it sucks. I found a receipt from a 2005 beer run in an old book. $5.70 for a 6 pack of Bridgeport IPA (Oregon beer). A random internet calculator tells me that is $7.60 adjusted for inflation. Today, unless I find a good sale, I pay about $12 a six pack. Beer is too expensive.

Oh yeah, I’ve had it. The bottle is getting low though… of Covid ever goes away and i can get back to San Diego, I’ll have to get another to replace it.

Last Christmas, my wife’s mom gave me a bottle of a barleywine called Daughter of Storms.

It looked amazing, so we decided to save it and split it when we got matched with our next adopted child’s birth mom.

Then my wife got pregnant. So I drank it tonight, both as a way to close out 2020 and because I technically did get matched with my next child(ren)'s birth mother.

It was real good, but (as most barleywines do) it hit me like a truck.

Also got sobered up when my gf accidentally time traveled forward a full year in Animal Crossing by setting the Switch clock setting and thought all our animals hated her forever. Her trauma ended my buzz pretty quick, dawww.

Don’t even know what you’re talking about with Animal Crossing, but it made me chuckle.
