The insects, arachnids and myriapods pictures thread

Thought my fellow entomophiles would enjoy this thread of award-winning entomology videos:

The winner is really in a class of its own. Amazing.

This one seemed more targeted toward our birdlovers next door, like @RichVR:

Cool, thanks.

Thanks for sharing, that was incredible. I remember finding an antlion on holiday as a kid in… Greece, probably, and was fascinated by its ability to bury itself instantly, and horrified by its fleeting appearances!

Cute!!!

I get praying mantises around my house every year, it’s cool.

They could be nature’s coolest bug (maybe not so much if you’re male lol).

YAAAY!

MORE BUGS MORE BUGS MORE BUGS MORE BUGS MORE BUGS!

Crane fly with camo wings.

Spotted these two Hoverfly when i was clearing the rose of aphids and grabbed my new macro lens

That’s astonishing, knives. Beautiful.

Amazing. Those compound eyes are immense.

I really need to read this huge guidebook i have for my Sony A6000, the focus spots are a bit random and im sure i should be able to get the whole thing in focus. Im relying on the auto-shoot mode at the moment.

You can see the top of the eye on the upper one has good focus, and those eyelash things.

It looks like the Lexx at full res :)

Some older pics of varying quality.
