It’s funny.

The absolutely worst lore shattering idiocy, which to be fair, was called apocrypha within the show as well, but so far never rebuked, only reaffirmed, also has all the best actors. Flies hovering shit.

I think part of the lack of confidence is sideling main character of this Age and giving their parts to character from The Lord of the Rings.

Well, that’s an image. :-)

I am confused by roguefrog’s mixed metaphors. He referred to the elf-mithril business as “noodle ramen” but now’s he’s talking about rubbing it on the genitalia. I have never tried this but rubbing a spicy ramen on one’s privates is probably NOT an advisable act. In fact I would have to professionally counsel against it.

looks up spicy noodle ramen on literotica

Yeah the mithril actually restoring the keaf confused me too.

Like how did it degrade between then and when Bilbo and Frodo had their fabulous mail shirt ?

The Queen being blind…interesting twist.

And Celeborn died?

This got a double take from me as well. She doesn’t exactly say that, she says he was lost, or so I thought. But I assume he died. Didn’t she also say that they had a daughter when she was talking to Theo? If so, what about her? Is Elrond married in RoP because his wife will be Galadriel and Celeborn’s daughter. Such a dumbass show, I don’t know why I bother.

But my guess is that somewhere down the road Finrod and Celeborn will reincarnate from the Halls of Mandos and return to Galadriel and convince her to settle down in Lothlorien. Elves returning from the dead happens, but it was very rare as far as we know from Tolkien’s writing. I put nothing past the highly experienced show runners.

Weird episode overall.

The bit I liked least was the reveal of the Balrog.

Oddly, this is where a bit of mystery would have helped, with just the leaf burning up, no need to see the whole Balrog!

He’s not dead. He went to war and she hasn’t seen him since. He’s definitely showing up before the series is over.

BTW, the biggest lore deviation now is the suggestion that any elf would be wearing ill-fitting armor.

The last episode…yikes. The one thing I thought would be one of the core story sections of the show, and also happens to be the title, is just a flash in the pan.

I guess Sauron will be making the rest of the rings in Mordor by himself…The character predictions before the show even started turned out to be 100% correct. Halbrand is Sauron and Meteorman is a Wizard/Istari. Sadoc dies LOL!

Well the show is consistent in its inconsistency. Fantastic visual effects, great sets, some good acting; but writing and plotting that could have come out of my little parrot’s butt.

Well, I saw this season through. It seems to me at this point the course of the show is set and it’s not going anywhere I’m interested in, so I’m done.

For those who enjoy it, carry on. I’m seriously disappointed by the opportunity cost: we are not going to get a good version of the Second Age and I’m fairly certain the estate is not going to sell the First Age rights, given this mess and their history. Oh well. At least we got the Jackson trilogy of films, which I consider excellent.

What a shame.

What bugs me about the last episode is they STILL tried to do a fake out in the first half of the show. Also the Easterlings actually calling Sauron, Lord Sauron? LOL! Who the heck is the shows Middle-earth conlang guy? He sucks. Bah.

Entire show is a hot mess in too many ways. I’ll still watch season 2 in 20 years or whatever.

I figured it out: the Stranger is Toucan Sam!

I thought this was a really good episode, though I wish it had been two hours long so we could have seen a bit more between Celebrimbor and Halbrand.

Kudos to Charlie Vickers for the excellent performance, though. He did a fantastic job with the reveal, from his absolute calm in physically and mentally dominating Galadriel to his outburst of fury on the raft when she resisted. I’m looking forward to seeing more of Sauron at his full strength, which should be quite a sight.

It does make me wonder if they will choose to give Sauron other disguises or if he’ll just keep this visage for the remainder of the show.

They definitely seem to be pointing strongly towards Meteor Man being Gandalf, which isn’t surprising, but I hoped it would be Saruman instead. I enjoyed the way in which he dispatched the cultists in any case. I’m curious as to how they knew what an Istari even was, and if we’ll ever learn that.

It sucks that we have to wait so long for season 2, but I’m looking forward to it.

I haven’t seen the final episode of the season, but here (offered by Tolkien Untangled) is a hypothetical outline of how the Rings of Power Seasons 1 & 2 should have played out (its about an hour long watch).

I really like Tolkien Untangled. He is very much one of best Tolkien youtubers around and knows his stuff.

Bwahahaha!

Yup.

The two big reveals were exactly as many of us predicted.

Sigh.

DO NOT CLICK THIS HOLLYWOOD REPORTER LINK UNTIL YOU HAVE WATCHED THE FINALE.

MAJOR SPOILERS! You have been warned!

From that article "There may well be viewers who are like, ‘This is the story we were hoping to get in season one!’ In season two, we’re giving it to them.”

Life’s too short for this crap. It should read “… hoping to get in episode one and in episode two we’re giving it to them.”

This is about money and greed.

I haven’t seen the finale yet, but went ahead and read the spoilers because that’s how little I care. What a hot mess and I agree. . .no way the Tolkien estate gives Amazon more rights unless they’re somehow desperate for money.

“If you had a sneaking suspicion over the course of an entire season, and then that suspicion is ultimately confirmed, that’s an emotional engagement,” Payne says.
