Florida just called for evacuations apparently. Also, it sounds like 15 billion incoming for FEMA.
Florida Governor Rick Scott declared a state of emergency on Monday. Since then, officials in the following counties have issued evacuations:
Broward County ordered an evacuation for low-lying areas, the barrier islands, mobile homes and space east of the Federal Highway beginning Thursday at noon.
Miami-Dade County evacuations for zones A and B along the water (see below) began at 7 a.m. Thursday
Monroe County instated evacuations for both visitors and residents, which went into effect on Wednesday.
Collier County issued an evacuation for Marco Island on Wednesday.
The Florida Division of Emergency Management website will update its full list of evacuation orders as more are announced.
Aw man, that border wall is only going to be like two feet tall now!
“Mother did it need to be so high …”

@Clay and @arrendek here’s one supposedly from Harvey. Not sure why the crew thinks it’s funny. Especially since you can hear alarms from lost steerage mentioned afterward.
Nope, here’s a gif of that posted 5 months ago to reddit:
People always rebrand youtube videos to get the views. If you spike and get shared virally you probably could make some decent money.

Nervous laughter when you might die is a reasonable reaction.

Yeah I figured as much. Plus that isn’t a small military ship, so no clue why it would have been in the Gulf for that anyway.
Timex I think you’re right. Perhaps also that they had been in that storm for a while, so at that point you’re a bit wired.

Pirate day is still coming up. :)
Please keep Trump trash out of this thread.
Not sure it’s worth leaving unless you are in a high-risk situation like a coastal town or low-lying area.
I don’t know why people think they have to make it to Atlanta either.
So - 90% of the towns in Florida?
To find a hotel room?
The farther up the east coast it really impacts, the harder time folks up toward Daytona and the cape are going to have both getting out and finding someplace to stay.
No.
If it were me, I would go west on I-10. As of right now, the storm might impact Atlanta anyway!
True, but it still could also impact Pensacola. You also have to account for the fact that a traffic map of I75 on any normal day has a good chance to look a lot like that one.

Looks like it’s moving over a series of shallow submerged banks before the Turk islands. Hopefully this will slow it down.

Puerto Rico’s power company is in debt and may not restore complete power for months. Remember, Puerto Rico is in default and Congress won’t bail it out.
I foresee a huge wave of Puerto Rican refugees, and they can’t be kept out because they’re US citizens!
Yeah. . . my friend whose family is still out there described the night of the storm as pretty harrowing. Couldn’t hear anything over the wind except the bamboo splintering and shattering all around, more or less in complete darkness, as they didn’t want to start using up their generator fuel till things were a little more orderly. Sounds like they’re all okay, more or less, but the island is definitely fucked. Again.
