Yeah, now it’s going right over my house.

I’ve kinda always wanted to see the eye of a hurricane. But ummm, probably not worth it

Yeah, that’s landfall south of Tampa at Category 4.

I probably didn’t love Jesus enough or something. I’ll go build an altar.

Quick question: what’s the correct sacrifice?

Live chicken

Hmm. I think the stores are all closed. Anything I can catch that can substitute? Maybe a duck?

I get nervous just listening to the Live webcame posted above. Take care everyone in Florida and @arrendek - btw, are you not evacuating or something? KFC will not work for this hungry god!

Arrendek has some time still to watch this and see where it goes, I imagine. In the current track, Irma hits Tampa/St. Pete on Monday.

But yeah, be safe!

The Washington Post had a big article a month or two ago about how Tampa would be totally fucked if a major hurricane hit it.

Found it. July 28. Eerie.

I have that camera up live right now. Still cars driving by. People are dumb.

Where do you live?

The latest track puts the eye at 2 miles from my house within 30 miles of landfall. Worse, it is set that it will pass by my house on the west which means I get the worst winds. There is no chance of evacuation now. We are on our own.

Can you get to a shelter? Something solid?

Oh nice, so not only does the latest track have it still being a cat 3 when it gets to orlando, We are now projected to get the upper right hand corner which is the most intense part.

Edit: Just watched a Jeff Piotrowsky on Periscope showing how their software is showing 25-45ft waves being predicted at the keys as the eye approaches.

That’s like a tsunami… horrors!

My house was built after Andrew and Katrina. It is concrete, the roof is strapped down and I have my storm shutters up. The house is rated to 155 MPH winds. I am not sure there is anything around that is more solid.

East Tampa by USF.

My mom lives very close and apparently did nothing to prepare. Great. :(

Edit: I also live in a concrete block home with roof tied on, fwiw

How are you situated for storm surge? That’s going to be the real risk. Don’t get trapped if you can get out. Evan if you don’t normally get flooding, they are talking about storm surges of up to 12 feet

How high is your house in elevation, and how far from the coast? I think as long as I could evacuate to a strong, high structure 30+ miles from the coast it would be ok, but not any closer.

You can still evac. Roads are pretty clear right now actually. I think many people are packing at the moment, it’ll probably pick up in the afternoon.

You know, there’s quite a lot of activities happening in this street. In the past 30 min, I see at least 6 cars/trucks driving past, a few people taking morning stroll and one guy on a bike. Considering where it is located (Key West), they sure take things easy.

edit: there’s another Live Cam with sound facing the ocean
