Irma has weakened as I’d hoped it would (down to 125). Yeah, it will restrengthen when it turns North, but I still think it will end up being a better scenario for Florida than if there’d been less interaction with Cuba. Hope the folks down in Cuba are ok.

34 feet above sea level which is a veritable hill in SW FL. Not in a 100 year flood zone. If I am flooded out, Noah better be prepared to pick up everyone in SW FL in an ark.
Saw this on reddit. The records so far:
The 37 hours at 185 mph will be its claim to fame, at least until it hits land…
Oh my god I laughed so hard and so suddenly.
Dude, gastroesophageal reflux disease is no laughing matter.
I am way more intrigued by these key west live streams than I should be.
There are 5 people hanging out right by the ocean where the cruise ships come in trying to catch pigeons.

You’re simply paying your respects for the soon to be dead.
When 2pm rolls around, can you guys calculate the expected wind speed by USF for me? I’m finding it hard to read these models beyond landfall and I’m busy tying things down.
Thanks in advance.

Purportedly a live cam at southernmost beach of Key West. No audio.
Generally the best time to walk your dogs.
I remember doing that during David years ago.The neighbor across the street was walking his skunk.
We might get lucky in Palm Beach County…

My partner’s family live in St. Pete. Some made it out, but his parents are stubborn and generally make every decision against their best interest. They also live in a disaster of a paper house. His younger sister (only 22 and just received her nursing license) works at a nearby hospital. She had the option to go, but decided to stay and help out which I guess deserves a certain respect, but we are still a little sick about it. The hospital has extended an offer to the families of medical workers to shelter at the hospital (with their pets - but only one per person). We have a feeling that his parents will want to stay and defend the house: his dad with a shotgun in one hand and a bible in the other while his mom keeps track of 4 dogs, 5 cats, 3 chickens, and whatever other strays they’ve collected.

This mimics most of the people I know here in NC with older parents in Florida. Not a single one evacuated. The older people get, the more they are inclined to ignore things in a death wish random event like this.
My mother rode out a light brush with a Cat 2 hurricane a few years ago and was so taken by the effect of it she moved back to the foothills of NC. No water/power for a week, couldn’t leave her house due to flooded roads, etc. It’s like they only think of the wind, not the effect of a huge storm carrying water along with it.
