Yes if it shifts west and cruises by to the west of Tampa in the water, then the storm surge pushes into the Bay and everyone who ignored that mandatory evacuation is fucked. That’s whole first floor full of water kind of flooding. So in a way if I get happy because the winds are farther away, there will actually be a lot more property damage in this town to deal with.

You can jump back in the stream and see it still. Or maybe only if you had it open already…

It’s not like you can see a line come down or anything it just sort of shuts off. I still see emergency power has some things lit.

Lights are back. (for now : )

Looks like power is back on now! Interesting - is someone still working at the electric company down there?

Last I checked Irma was still 95 miles away from that place.

LOL there were people walking around, maybe drunk, crazy power company workers.

“I will NOT let this blasted hurricane stop me from this karaoke!”

… and now they’re out again.

The eye, at least. It’s starting to get its fingers out there

What stream are you guys watching? I can’t get any of the cams in Key West to show an image. Most come back as Offline.

Edit: In case not obvious already, power is out again.

Also this WaPo thing (not key west though):

Cool thanks! Southernmost Point seems to be offline. I found a page with links to others, but most seem to be offline.

This was live recently, though this might be a replay now based on the time stamp.

EDIT: Nevermind, it switched to a replay.

Yeah that one is from 2 hours ago though. Plenty of fun gifs of people being dumb from that feed.

And they shifted the forecast farther west. Not sure yet what this means for me. Less landfall before it gets here, more strengthening in the water, but now it’s more likely to pass farther away.

Gif too much for even me

Surprise to see such strong winds in Miami, though, if its tracking towards west.

The NHC is now projecting 125mph winds in 12 hours. Down from projected 140 this morning for that time frame. The storm could have easily been a cat 5 if it hadn’t interacted with Cuba as much. Is that still catastrophic? Maybe, but it’s looking better than it might have, and that’s considering it just hugged the coast. But I’ll take cat3 over cat5.

Stunning stories about crowdsourcing rescue requests during Harvey.

I can think of worse ways to pass the days.

Actually I can think of few better, the catostrophic weather outside excepted. Hope it goes according to plan for you man.

Ugh that article. My partner’s family live in Pinellas Park. I’m afraid that by the time they are encouraged enough to leave there won’t be anywhere else to go.

FYI, Derek Smart is hunkered down in Florida. Stay safe, Derek!
