Yeah, yeah, yeah, lanterns, food, whatever. Which boardgames?

She keeps sliding west like this and Alabama is gonna be under the gun.

And it’s up to 130 already, so who the heck knows…

Yep, winds are heading back to Cat 4. Will see if it sustains.

Used to live in Mobile. We moved there a few years after Camille, and while there didn’t get hit by anything. But man, the whole Gulf coast scares the crap out of me in terms of weather like this. So much low lying land, so much water. Went through a typhoon in the Philippines as a kid, and that was plenty for me.

So while trying not to drastically downplay the Hurricane too much, the Keys don’t look too bad. Yes there’s storm surge but the whole place isn’t underwater, the buildings I’m seeing so far seem to be intact, not a lot of debris, etc…

The eye is about 20 miles east of Key West, so it looks like they sort of dodged a bullet there.

The reddit live feed of info is pretty good.

I mean based on radar Key West took a direct hit by the western eye wall of a Cat 4. I would expect more damage then what I’m seeing.

edit: fake news - that is the Miami River, so it is overflowing but it’s not like it’s a flooded highway/street.

I’m up early and watching things this morning, it seems like the hurricane is shifting east again. I had many more friends in Florida evacuate overnight. My thoughts are with you guys still down there.

Lordy.

Good grief! Is he at the eye wall or something? How is he going to open his car door and get back?!

Lost power for a moment. Fortunately my UPS saved the day (and my progress in a game). Winds died down again.

One of the downtown Miami cranes collapsed.

Geezus.

Question 1: why is there a crane still up in Miami?

IIRC, there are something like 30 of them up in downtown Miami. It was a big topic of discussion 3-4 days ago.

Did we post this one yet?

Sorry if it’s a repost, but it seems to be a popular topic.
