Thought about asking you yesterday how you guys were doing. At one point they thought we might get a bunch of snow here, then it shifted south.

It’s totallly sticking. There will be chaos on the roads soon, slow chaos compared to other places. And it’s still snowing. We might get more than a dusting this time! My mom will be so excited.

We had a hell of a mess here a couple of weeks ago. Hope it doesn’t get that bad for you (airport recorded 20 inches).

20 inches would be catastrophic in this area. We get that on the mountains. A few inches will typically close schools, but we don’t get the pile-ups in other areas because most are pretty good about slowing down and inching their way home. It’s been a number of years though, so the new drivers might struggle a bit. The first time you spin your wheels on ice or snow is… interesting.

Yeah, this was by far the most I’d seen here since we moved in 2010. We have very few plows here, so streets like we live on don’t usually get plowed. And it’s a rather steep hill.

It’s still snowing. I might get to use my measuring tape this year.

The previous leftover snow is almost gone. I’m always glad for some being left behind as it beautifies the landscape and makes for a more pleasant commute over just staring out at bleak brown dead trees and grass. The snow really makes everything prettier.

Unfortunately, there’s a lot more coming this weekend apparently. 6 more inches on Saturday night/Sunday morning.

And it’s going to be minus 5 degrees Fahrenheit on Monday morning when I go to work. I’d better wake up early to de-ice my car. The scrapper has been really getting a workout this winter.

It looks like we’re done for awhile, maybe the year. 2 inches in my area, gone by yesterday. It was beautiful.

Madison, WI
48 inches of snow since Jan 1st.

It has been pretty crazy.

I don’t know why, but I got curious about how many posts we tended to have every year in this thread, and then I graphed it over the life of the thread.

The first year I doubled, since it started in July, and then the last year I just extrapolated through the entire year (we’ve had 405 in the first 2 months of this year, which is a lot, historically)…so that last point is extremely high, but may just be due to lots of bad weather happening to happen in the first two months of the year.

Regardless, I don’t know why I did this, but whatever. It’s Friday and I was bored.

I see two spikes with the years of the big Midwest spooky voice polar vortex events

Suddenly we’re looking at more snow overnight tonight and on Sunday too after the 2-3 inches we got last night. Crazy! My son’s (outdoor) soccer tournament got nixed. *sigh*

Noooooo!

I’ve been watching the Nordic World Championships being held in Austria. They were skiing in 60 degree weather. Seems much of Europe has had record warm winter. But not here, nooo.

Then I saw this the other morning from some sci-fi writer I follow on twitter and realized I’m doing it all wrong. Been in a bad mood ever since.

That’s beautiful.

Holy moly

Did they just randomly fail?

I’ve got an idea where our wall money should go.

Obviously infrastructure week didn’t start soon enough.
