3 on ours, and the pump is on our property.

We think there is a crew onsite at our outage, so hopefully something soon.

The ferry ride from BI or Kingston is nice and not long. The problem is you can’t just leisure stroll in anytime you want. You have to allow plenty of extra time.

Eventually got the generator running, connected it to the subpanel and…nothing works. Power has been out almost 12 hours, estimated to be back in a bit over 2 more

It. Has. Arrived.

This is some real snow. If it keeps up, this will stick.

It was enough to cover the grass at home.

3 miles north, at work, the sun is out and you would have no indication it snowed.

I think ours stop, like literally now. This is neither snowpocalypse nor an ice skating rink assuming we end this little freak-out ends today which it’s supposed to. Heck our schools didn’t even do a delay although Klamath did. Klamath is used to snow though.

Meanwhile, it’s the middle of January and I’m still waiting for winter to hit in Utah. We’ve had snow, but it’s been too warm for it to stick to the roads. Each storm leaves an inch or two on the grass, which is usually melted away by the end of the day. We have another storm coming in today but it’s rain, since it’s 45 degrees.

This is just… insane. We’ve had years with little to no snow on the ground, but that’s been due to drought and lack of precipitation. We’ve had plenty of storms this year, it’s all just been rain or snow that falls but immediately melts. Things typically start to warm up in the next couple weeks, so I guess maybe we just don’t get a winter this year? Things have been trending this way for a while but it’s just escalating.

Still unusually warm here in the SE US also, last couple of days have been about 70F and thunderstorms. Feels more like late April.

Meanwhile 1180 miles north (reply to KevinC), check out the wind chill, that works out to -41.8F. Next week looks better :)

South Utah? My friend just outside of SLC has gotten a good amount of stuck snow so far.

I’m just a few minutes north of Salt Lake. I did hear that one of the storms in Utah county left people shoveling but… nothing but grass and dirt all winter here. And more rain today. With the amount of precipitation we’ve had, I should be cursing the gods and my stubborn insistence on shoveling instead of buying a snowblower. :D

Oh god. I spent a couple winters in Thunder Bay, Ontario. I do NOT miss what -40 feels like, both on any exposed skin or in my fingers and toes. I didn’t have a car at the time (so spent more time outdoors than I would have had I just driven from A to B everywhere) and I swear there were days where it felt like I hit my fingers with a hammer, they would throb so badly.

Tonight could be the heaviest snowfall yet, but it should warm up beginning Thursday.

I fly in to SeaTac on Friday. Hurry up and melt that stuff.

He neglects to mention there are gale force winds possible from Wednesday afternoon into Thursday. With fresh snow in the trees, that could prove very, very bad.

It’s really odd, Cliff Mass and NOAA/NWS say snow tonight. Every commercial weather site/app says minimal snow tonight. How can there be such a huge difference in predictions?

It’s -40ish Celsius overnight with windchill but will be +5 Celsius on Sunday according to the forecast. An extension cord to the block heater, the cap on my block heater cord (not the cord itself thankfully) and an ice scraper all broke this week in the cold.

Regional records for highest low temperature for the month, in over a century.

So much snow. We’re shutting down I’m sure but I’m at the doctor’s office… got to try and make it home soon, real slow like.

Phew made it back. It was pretty sporty going in but the way back was smoother, and I practically got an escort with the bulldozer in front of me.

How much snow did you get?

Oddly I can’t find a local source that says. This is now, but it was solid light when I went to my appointment and very slick.

It’s warming up, so the roads are a lot better now. I would think the bulk of our snow is on the hills and mountains… I live in essentially a bowl, and we got our snow on those hills you can see on Monday.

When I was a kid, this was pretty darn rare.
