Lightening up a lot now. Live cam:

San Fransisco looks like a scene from bladerunner.

So I’m in Lebanon, and believe it or not we’re keeping an eye on…another fire here too. Fires are everywhere. Why 4 hours north, only place that works take us and our pets. And even then I had to beg for the cat… they said pets were okay but said no cats after we got here.

Jackson County shelter was full, turning people away and not a real shelter anyway… just a place to park, no supplies and no shelter.

Had stations started running out of gas so I went further away from the freeway tob find some.

Josephine shelter apparently opened after we left. Not sure if it was a real shelter or a place to park in 100+ weather.

Almost every person I know had lost their home, had to leave their home, or is preparing to leave in case.

The ash is so thick here it’s like dusted snow.

I’m in contact with my neighbors and the house stands, they’re not evacuated. WIFI cameras tell me there’s still power.

I took a break from some online social things for a bit, considered making it permanent… social media is the only reason I know anything at all. Distant family monitoring live radios… twitter has alerts, facebook has live coverage for KOBI… everything else is hours old if i can find it all.

Mom is only starting to realize she’s lost everything, keeps talking about things she doesn’t have anymore…

Lil sis went to Dad in WA. I’m going to see if it’s safe to go back tomorrow, but two new fires started tonight.

Conspiracies every where, blaming BLM and antifa, can’t get info without hitting misinformation… also probably more fires in Oregon than black people so…yeah, not likely BLM.

Great Aunt / Uncle confirmed okay. The evacuated yesterday, went back too soon but loggers are stubborn often fearless folks.

Thanks for listening. It’s hard to share panic while everyone else is pretending not to panic with you.

Ps hate phone typing

Very happy that you are safe. Sorry for your losses.

Glad the aunt and uncle are ok. Hang in there.

I’ve had to evacuate from hurricanes before, but never a fire. I know it’s super stressful, so please take care of yourself!

Speaking only for myself - I don’t care why you left, but I’m super happy you’re back. I really missed hearing your point of view on things.

Nesrie - there are few places safe right now. If I had to pick one area, I’d pick the coast, but damn if it doesn’t seem like everything is on fire right now. It’s good you have a place to stay for now. Crazy you had to go all the way up to Lebanon.

Sobering.

Jesus, that is harrowing. Thank you so much for updating us and I’m really glad your family is accounted for and you made it out safe. That sounds like a nightmare scenario.

There’s rumors that there is a fire on the coast, but not sure which city in the south, know about Lincoln City though.

I knew the coast would be packed though, is where you go to escape smoke even if we don’t have a fire.

Good news, kitties longest trip…ever. He yeowls almost the entire way anywhere… not a peep. I was worried but he must’ve felt the frantic. He’s pretty chill in the room now. Smoke is bothering him too.

Also my sisters and I laughed at our rooms since they remind us of places we’d stay at as kids.

I didn’t want to go yet, but I’m glad I got then to where they felt safer for at least a night

As far as I can tell, the only fire of note on the coast is Lincoln city. But there may be some not reporting yet, and given how fast these have grown a report 12 hours old borders on useless.

Glad you made it safe somewhere. Hopefully the fires to your north and south don’t grow too much, that is scary indeed.

Glad you’re safe, Nesrie! Hang in there. Sounds like a major ordeal.

Mom’s place… first time we’ve been able to get any info from anyone at all. That land had been under some sort of grandfather trust or rule that kept it in Rusty’s family, his son has it now… if they can somehow sell it after a total loss…

So many cars. They left on foot.

The only reason my mom got out is she has a customer who lives on a hill. They heard there was a fire. The husband got a ladder and leaned it against his roof to see the fire better. Using binoculars he saw it and realized my mom lived there…he had his wife Karen call her immediately. There was no warning for them.

I found out after she drove to my sisters and called me. And now she’s drunk and sobbing and talking to a neighbor who also got out. Rumor is one person didn’t get out but they don’t know who.

Hoping she’ll fall asleep soon so I can listen to the scanner to see if the airport is in trouble…no official source says its exploding so I’m not sure why FB had others saying that.

That video is really heartbreaking, there are a lot of families which will have a hard time recovering. How can it be that authorities can close a road which is the sole evacuation route of a community, and not know or make any attempt to warn them? I know decisions must be made quickly, but someone must be looking out for the communities, and not just the process of the firefighting.

Let us know if there is any way to help.

This is where I lived as I finished my degree. I always thoughtvac fire would hit the field on the way out and force a foot retreat OR it works come fun behind and let you get the cars out.

I hated that place but there really was no cheaper or better place to live and be in that city with a strong well and irrigation rights for the yards with a grassland and, well, a known black bear more interested in garbage than pets.

I do not know why there is a rumor three units survived. I lived there for years myself, and it’s so bad I can’t tell one road from another when they showed a wide view.

I told her we’d go when they allow it but… nothing is like going to be found. It’s ash. There’s nothing left. She left an old and small truck, and I can’t even identify it from that.

She’s gonna break when we go there, and I don’t even know what I’m going to say. Only that, God willing, we’ll still have a home. Cameras say it’s still there. Gotta stop checking… gonna wind up getting some sort of complex over checking them.

I forgot to mention, my vacation started on Tuesday. I literally took 2 weeks to just breathe, paint a room in my house, remind myself what i love to do, my refinance made sense and try to, i don’t know… remember before covid, before all this stuff and now 2020 had given me my worst vacation… ever. I even managed to travel somewhere in the middle of a pandemic.

Good luck, Nesrie. I hope things turn out better eventually!

Nesrie, I’m gonna just pontificate here a bit. I hope you take it as heartfelt.

Years ago, I decided that the people I share genetic material with are not my family. I choose my family.

QT3 is a part of my family. I’ve been on here for about 16 years now, and I feel like I know many of these folks better than I know anyone I interact with in person.

The reason I say this is because YOU are a part of QT3, and YOU are a part of my family. It is great that you stand with your mother and your father and your sister, given many of the things you’ve mentioned about them. But I consider you a part of my QT3 family, and I think it is safe to say many others on here feel the same. We are a family, and we care about each other, and we fear for each other, and when one of us needs help, others step up.

All of which is to say, if you need anything, say so. I have no doubt we will come through for you if it is within the realm of possibility. And in the meantime, if you need to be offline a while, that’s fine, just let us know. We will be here waiting for you to return. Your QT3 family.

Seal up tonight, Seattle lads.

A small annoyance compared to the serious issues Nesrie is dealing with, but I’m now well into my 3rd day straight without power thanks to the historic windstorm that hit the state. Still 60,000 homes in my area without power. I may be going a little bit mad at this point.

I’ll take that a hundred times over having all my shit burn down though. :(
