Did they skip Theta? I’m not sure. Edit: Oh, I see it now. Theta was a storm, just didn’t get big enough to catch attention. They only have to get to Tropical Storm to get a name.

I looked at the Atlantic summary and didn’t see it listed.

It’s listed here:

But that’s not official, of course.

Wow, that says the only other recorded cat 5 in November was in 1932

A typhoon just slammed into Vietnam, after killing more than 60 people in the Philippines.

So, are we northeast coast Qt3’rs doing snow sticks for this storm on Weds? I’m in the 12-18" band for now.

Same 12-18" band here in PA , I will be at work when it starts tomorrow, then at the hotel .6 miles from work tomorrow night, then back at work 6am Thursday as the storm is ending.

Didn’t need a snow storm the only week I am in the office this month. :(

Hah, up in Troy/Albany they are saying maybe 2 inches.

Some of the weather models show up to a foot in Albany! A rounding error of a shift in the storms track is the difference between a foot and nothing for areas on the fringes of it (Long Island in the south, Albany in the north)

Hoping @BennyProfane gets at least a foot of snow. :)

Yes, we had a neighbor’s tree drop a tree-sized branch on our roof. The tree still flowered but it turns out it was rotting on the inside. It was considered an act of god so we had to pay the deductible. If it had happened a second time it would have been forseeable and his insurance would have covered it.

Oh man good luck with all the snow y’all. Be safe!

I’m in the 3" to 6" band but nevertheless, I stocked up on alcohol. One never knows!

They seem to be inching it up some now. NWS is saying up to 7" now.

Wrong thread I know, but NY folks shld plan for more than just snow days at home.

12 to 18 here in W. Maryland. Got into it with my boss this morning as to why we didn’t have a plan in place. By the end of the day, our plan is to come in as usual, and leave early once things start getting bad. Which is ridiculous.

That is ridiculous plan. Has your business never dealt with snow before?

And my forecast is updated to 9 to 12” so get ready for some fun. However, the one encouraging sign is it the snow bands seem very thin so if this it shifts a little to the west then we may get a lot less.

Where I live, people almost take it as a badge of honor to trek out in the snow, no matter the conditions.

I work at an outpatient center and we’ll have people in bright and early, no matter what, just to get their wrist xray or some other procedure that can wait until conditions aren’t so hazardous.

As for the docs, they “care” about our well-being, but they CARE more about potential money lost. And a lot of our employees are holdovers from working in a hospital setting, so they’ll try to get in to work, no matter what.

Hey, just like my boss! I know the feeling.

Left work at 11am. There wasn’t much coverage but I wanted to get out while it wasn’t too bad. Turns out it was laying faster than I thought. My roads were covered and people were thankfully driving appropriately. Home now and the snow is falling fast at a pretty steady rate.
