With the atmospheric river that dumped inches over the past few days, the wind decided to come & visit.
Generator going, after 9 hours, our zip is still listed as “investigating” and an estimated time of 6:30 tonight, which we know is complete fabrication.

My experience with Spanish housing is that -25 degrees would not have been pleasant.
I was disappointed to see the Madrid snow wasn’t represented in MSFS the other day. Clearly they still need to do some more work on that feature.
Big windstorm last night knocked out power for lots of folks in my neighborhood but, luckily (so far) not us. Looks like school is out for today though so it will be a kid wrangling day for me.
Yeah, there are half a million without power in western Washington. Ton of wind here last night. Was sure we were going to lose power, but we never did.
Damn
This is that bridge. Driver must have been terrified looking out his side window.

A couple of years ago, another truck driver going across hi-way 97 near biggs junction (on OR/WA border) went over completely & drowned.

Glad to hear you dodged it. A powerful windstorm knocked out our power for four days or so a few months back. Paired with COVID limiting other options, those four days really sucked.

I was on that bridge back last February, it is a really cool place.
That wind was crazy. On my run this morning there were spilled garbage cans all over the place. However, being in the valley and not on the ridge like you, I didn’t see any signs of power outages other than one street light that was flashing. Tons of tree branches and debris though, and all the paths along the creeks were flooded.
Yikes. That would be a real problem here, being on a well. And septic system requires power too.

Oh jeez, I can only imagine. At least I had running/hot water (gas) and that sort of thing.
Power outages are now proof that Q was right. Just more evidence that where Mother Nature goes one she goes all, or something.
I didn’t realize the wind got that bad last night. I live in a neighborhood where any kind of decent windstorm would guaranteed take down the power. Every time. For years and years, going back at least two decades.
But the PUD must have gotten tired of it, too, because last year they built a substation around the corner and there were branch-cutting crews going around all summer.
Power stayed steady all night long.
First and possibly only snow of the winter here in London this morning. It’s settling, but barely.
Don’t freeze to death! Do you know how to use a snow shovel? Or a broom?
London’s not in the sunbelt. They understand snow.

They know what it is sure, but it still shuts down the city. They don’t get a lot of it, so when it snows everything comes to a stop.
Snow, they understand. EU partner benefits, they do not.
Snow shovel, ha! It all melted by about 3pm.
