Isn’t it called Omega Block because the weather system is shaped like the Greek letter Omega?

Only 97° up here is the Seattle area. Hopefully that means we won’t be in the 115º area around 5pm. Most sites are saying ~108º, but one site still says 115º.

One cat threw up a bunch of liquid. I wiped them down with a wet washcloth which they didn’t seem to mind. They aren’t moving though. I went out to get something to eat and usually when I come home they come running to see me. Neither did. One came and found me eventually. The other is not coming out from under the bed.

One local McDs is closed completely. The other was open and the drive-thru line was wrapping around the building. Taco Time is closing at 4 due to extreme heat in the kitchen. I feel a bit guilty going. They should probably all just close down for the day.

If you have a regular vet for them, they might take your call and you can ask for some advice. I say might because even the really good vets are hesitant to give information over the phone. In extreme circumstances, they may make exceptions.

Thanks, but there are a lot of recommendations from vets on line that I have been reading. It’s only 87° in here and the room with the AC is at 80°. The cat who threw up is in the office. The other cat gets all upset if I try to bring in there.

Your poor kitties! I hope it’s just a little stress and they recover. Hopefully when we get back to “just” hovering around 100 they’ll be happy again.

The one who threw up figured it out. Sitting right where the AC is blowing.

Haha, nice. Too bad about your computer chair.

Yep no gaming on hot days for him!

We’re back to 115… the tease of a lower forecast was just that, lies.

I like that there is a roll of duct tape near by for emergency pc repairs.

All the weather stations reporting to Weather Underground near me in North Portland are reading 113-114 right now. I’m guessing they’ll top out at 116 or so, which is bananapancakes. Portland International Airport (PDX) also reads 114.

Man, highest I’ve ever seen is 105 in Vegas in August, which was, as a Midwesterner, a dry heat. Sorry for what you’re all going through.

Wheeee!

Starting to feel like I dodged a bullet here, because my phone is telling me the temp will top out at 99 this evening. Guess we’ll see.

My phone says it’s 117. Alexa says it’s 111 and TWC says 114. All I know is it’s too dang hot.

That ties the all-time record high in… Las Vegas

Walter White said it best

Looks like the heat hits the north east soon.

Just went outside to water some plants, because they are wilting like crazy.

It is hot out there!

104° on my deck in Bothell (30m north of Seattle). So maybe 105-106° will be the high? It’s not much worse than yesterday.

Eh - supposed to hit low 90s in NY and then drop into seasonable temps for the next week or so. Not too bad.
