I guess it doesn’t count constant raining as humid!
For us this is off the charts!
Edit: and temp, our overnight lows the last few days were in the 75th percentile for our normal highs the last few days
Basically none of this made any sense!

Why do weather sites/apps always list humidity when it really doesn’t tell you much? Dew Point seems to be the better indicator of how wet the air feels.

Because humidity can be directly measured, while dew point requires converting that to grams of water per cubic cm, and consulting a chart of maximum water vapor pressure at a given temp.
Not sure if you’re asking about the percentile graph and recordings on it or not. If not, ignore this. I can explain that if so, I have to use percentile graphs for work (non-weather related.) Think of it as a specific graph to extrapolate data from a LOT of data points whereby you need a trend line, not a spiky min-max line. It’s useful for trending readings over longer terms. This graph wouldn’t show the highs and lows, those fall within the 25% not shown and averaged. But it would show overall rises in temperatures over time without the one-offs that are outside the norm. You can also more easily compare percentiles from year to year, or longer term trends.
We use these at work to trend usage of data circuits. I don’t need to know you downloaded a new Steam release yesterday along with 100 other customers (a big but short term spike.) What I truly need to know is, is our circuit averaging upward growth at a rate that deems it necessary to start getting quotes for upgrades.
I think the graphs for average percentile temperatures are good for that in that you can see the, “normal,” not the one-offs. The higher the percentile, the more one-offs you might see, and the frequency thereof if you needed it. I wouldn’t base a decision to move to PNW on just this recent heat wave. But if your trend line is always going up, I might consider say, getting a home with a solid HVAC system.

Oh I understand those graphs well, and have a very solid understanding of statistical models and normal curves etc.
What I was saying didn’t make any sense was the sheer amount of water in the air, combined with the overall atmospheric temperatures putting even overnight lows above the normal high temperatures for this time of year.
We don’t get this hot! We broke the 40 year old temp record by 10°!
(And I don’t mean doesn’t make any sense in the ‘I don’t understand these phenomena’ sense, but in the ‘what the hell man’ sense)

Ahh, noted. Sorry for the explanation then. But I feel the same way about the strange weather. When this stuff happens it’s hard not to ask, “is this the real global warming or a spike along the way. Will this continue to happen?” Etc.
It’s hard not to look at this and not think it will repeat itself. And then it’s isn’t just scary, it’s apocalyptic.
Holy hell that’s bad. :(
Here’s a twitter thread and a link that goes into more technical details on that:
We’ve had 90+ temps since Saturday (second heatwave so far this summer, we usually don’t see that until late July/August (NH). But the forecast is down right schizophrenic:

How is it even possible for it to get to 121 in Canada?

I’ve done something similar in Hearts of Iron 4. You leave a weak spot in your line which allows a bunch of German panzer divisions to pour through and fill up a pocket like a balloon. Then when you’ve got a bunch trapped, you make an armored push at the gap and cut off their ability to escape.
Voila! Now you have yourself an encirclement to show off on /r/Hoi4 or a 121 degree heat dome in the middle of British Columbia, take your pick.
It can’t. We use Celcius.

70° and cloudy. It feels like Christmas after the last 4 days. That was miserable. Cats are going crazy today after days of doing nothing.
Portland is also lovely and cool today. 73 and overcast right now, which is fine with me. They say it’ll go to 86 later but not unless the clouds really clear up.

88 right now. Loving it.
I mean we could use some rain and not the lightning storm type but around and under 100 each day is tolerable.

It’s been pouring here all day. If I could send it west I certainly would.
Well, this weekend will mark the end of Juneurary, though it’s not exactly been a typical one, and we’ll move into summer proper. Still, 90 degrees is a damn sight better than 105.
