So. The fun starts here mostly around 10AM tomorrow. But the bad rain will start this evening. What I truly love is that there can be tornadoes as well, even before the actual storm hits.

Tornadoes at night are one of my biggest fears.

Wish us well. And to my Florida peeps, be safe. If you pray, pray that the power doesn’t go out.

Stay safe, bud. Don’t mess with Mother Nature if it’s bad. Get in the car and go, anywhere.

It’s scooting on by us along the west coast of Florida. Given that all the rain is to the east of it, were getting drenched. It’s like a really long and strong version of one of our many, many afternoon storms we get here, which is I guess why no one is taking this thing seriously. Hopefully the people living on the bay evacuated though, the storm surge will be intense.

And down to get the friction on?

So, at least here, it was a miss. Lots of rain overnight, nothing now. Not that I’m complaining.

Glad to hear it! If you could send a storm or two out west that would be fantastic.

Instead of a border wall, we should build a giant rain gutter to move all that storm water to the west.

Good to hear!

So the weather is not good in NYC.

Also how many weather topics do we have now? I sister is in the nearby area, but they’re not actually in NYC. It sounds like this passed them. I can’t believe people are driving in that either.

The white car looks like it’s tryin to float.

People are going down into subway stations that are flooded. The water is a lovely shit brown. I, as an ex-New Yorker, know what is in that water. I would never go near it. I saw one woman miss a step under the water and fall into it. It freaks me out. And as deep as the water was at the bottom of the stairs, in the background, a train was pulling into the station. I am much confused. My understanding is that if the third rail is under water they shut the system down.

You don’t want 750 volts and a possible 1500 amps in the water.

Oh my! That does sound alarming!

It is alarming once. Just once. :)

Well that did get a chuckle.

Think of it as a local-scale electro-desalination center.

Getting a ton of rain up here in MA, and as usual the basement flooded. It was really pretty bad this time, so I complained on the work chat and someone graciously offered to let me borrow a pump. Great! I drive out to get it, and on the way back my light-as-a-feather Corolla fishtails, then spins out on the overpass between 90 and 95 and I give a little love tap to the side of a semi. The trucker saw what was happening and pulled way over to the side, and the only damage is a slightly bent bumper and a little black plastic thing that fell off of it. He didn’t seem interested in exchanging insurance information (I have my suspicions, but no judgment from me, that’s for damn sure) so we drove off.

A little shaken, yeah, but at least the basement is nearly drained now.

Glad you are ok

Glad you’re okay too sheesh. That’s scary.

Not the first accident I’ve been in, and not the worst, but it was pretty scary. The weird thing was, I was thinking, “oh man, please don’t break the car, I really don’t want to have to deal with another thing today”; not, you know, “sweet jesus there’s a big rig about six feet away from me and I don’t have control of the car and we’re both going 45 mph”.

While it’s bad, it probably isn’t as bad as that makes it look. That portion of the FDR drive is horrendous, it floods even in medium rains.
