This seems less than ideal.
Multiple reports confirmed the news regarding the platform, which is now roaming freely in the Gulf.
The platform is about 130 miles south of New Orleans in the Gulf.
There are no reports regarding if anyone was aboard the platform, but given the storm, it is unlikely.
I sure hope somebody shut the valve to the well before they left…

So far the new and improved levees are holding up. And the hospitals have at least two weeks of fuel for their generators. Of course, they will probably need more, as the power is expected to be out for several weeks.
And that’s where it helps to have a federal administration that actually gives a damn.
Yeah thats not good, wonder how long it takes to get one of them put back up?

seeing those pictures makes me happy I got the fuck out of the NJ/NYC area when I did. I mean, we still had flooding out here in Appalachia, but we don’t have the massive amounts of congestion that the metro area does.
Same issue in Philly, river rose this morning as all that Northern PA rain drains out to sea
Conshohocken is under water. This is not that far from @Mike_Cathcart although he’s far up on top of a hill there.
Also, 676 is a canal now.
Yeah I drove over the river this morning as I headed to the KoP turnpike exit, and commented aloud, it looks really high!
A bridge near my girlfriend’s place is unsafe and shut down the road right near Norristown High School. I suspect a lot of bridges in the area are going to need serious inspection. Word now is this is the highest the Schuylkill has been in 150 years.
Yeah I see on PA511, that 202’s both bridges are closed.

You could see that Bridgeport was all flooded looking down from the turnpike.
I heard the year 1850 mentioned by a co-worker. I checked and it was 1869 that the river had its highest level of 17 feet reached.
Evacuation notices were put out, fearing Pickering Creek Dam failure in the early AM, but it seems its ok now? Water is still pouring over the dam.
That’s the second best thing that can happen to an overloaded dam.
I got pretty lucky in NY. My immediate neighbors are drying their shit outside. One says the water got up to their necks (first floor) A bunch of people drowned, mostly of them in their homes. The rain was around 10 PM
