Haven’t heard of it but it looks awesome. I don’t know that we’d be able to make it over there at this point though :(.

Yes, hiked some canyons there…very cool and some of them are lacking prople, which is good.
111 in the North Bay. Hottest day I’ve ever experienced. I suppose I’ll get to keep saying that for the rest of my life.
My car temp thingy said 117 in Concord, but I have no idea if that thing’s right. Weather Underground says 112.

I’m in San Francisco for the long weekend, in a location that’s normally foggy and windy and the strangest thing is happening tonight. There must be a thermal layer thing going on because the coastal plain has cooled off while the heights are still hot as hell.
This gives serious meaning to the term microclimates.
I wish I could show this this topographically. It’s 90 at twin peaks and 60 at the great highway.

Meanwhile elsewhere in the vicinity
Some of those records getting murdered by 10+°
Meanwhile, in Portland, a couple of days ago it looked like we were out of the woods re the heat, but no! Forecast for tomorrow is 90 but we’re still due to have a high of 95 on Saturday.
It’s finally started to rain in the UK. Had some showers yesterday and then a pretty spectacular thunderstorm last night, though it didn’t actually rain for very long near me. Due another storm this evening, hopefully I’ll make it home beforehand as I didn’t bring a brolly.
Nope. Looks like I’m getting soaked
Blessed it’s a cool 65 right now in Seatown. High of 77 expected.

At least you are not burning?
As someone in San Jose, I can confirm that this kinda sucks. Not “Phoenix in August” level of sucking, but it’s decidedly unpleasant.

Last weekend in Portland turned out to be much less scary wrt heat/fire/smoke than they were painting it, thank goodness. We had kinda bad air (nothing like 2020 Labor Day week) for about 3.5 days, the wind wasn’t too crazy and the heat was about 4-5 degrees cooler than they were forecasting. It was quite dry for sure. This week we’re finally seeing consistently cooler temps.

Did you hear the one lightning strike last Sunday? It was one of the loudest claps of thunder I’d ever heard.

Yes I did. It made my house rattle! Where did that one bolt of lightning strike BTW?
