Do I at least get partial credit for getting the director right?

Close Encounters of the Third Kind?

Absolutely. I was in two minds about saying how close you were but thought that would give the game away.

Nope. The 40:40 and 60:60 aren’t very helpful either, but 80:80 is a dead giveaway.

40:40

60:60

Koyaanisqatsi

Oops, double post.

Got it!

Here’s 80:80

Now that is a dead giveaway!

While flipping around the channels last night, I saw that movie on tv. Weird.

That’s a tough movie to pick out without the music! Well, except for the 80:80 frame. ;-)

Yeah, the final scene with the rocket blowing up and then endlessly tumbling back to Earth while Philip Glass’ superb soundtrack plays in the background is one of the most memorable film-watching experiences I have had. I remember sitting there for a few minutes after the film ended, looking at the blank screen, digesting what I had just seen. Good choice!

Here’s the next 20:20. This one will probably be picked off pretty quickly.

Ummm… A Christmas Carol?

Great Expectations?

It’s a Wonderful Life?

No, none of those are correct I’m afraid.

Here’s the 40:40.

Since it looks like this film may be more difficult than I thought, I’ll be kind-hearted and give a clue: it’s British and features one of British films’ best known and most versatile actors.

Kind Hearts and Coronets?

This game would be impossible with any Michael Bay movie

It is, well done.

And since it’s one of my favourite films, I can’t resist posting the 60:60 and 80:80 for completeness.

60:60

80:80

Tragically, I must again bow out of the game by virtue of being in the wrong county with little access to technology to post screeshots. Could somebody please step up for me? Thanks!

Easy one cause I like the movie!
