Well, I’ll throw out Mildred Pierce as it’s the only other Joan Crawford movie I can think of (for a film buff I’m awfully ignorant of her career), but I think that was in black and white & she was younger…

I’m going to guess Berserk, but I am pretty sure her hair was lighter in that movie.
Yes !
Brilliant, brilliant western by Nicholas Ray one of the best and most interesting American directors.

All right, time for something a little different:
Johnny Guitar, eh? You had me at ‘Sterling Hayden.’
Re next one, I’d say Cleopatra but the aspect ratio looks wrong. Ditto Ten Commandments. As a Hail Mary I’ll go with Alexander the Great (1956).
Nausicaä, Valley of the Wind?
Looks like Ghibli work to me, and definitely animated.

Correct! Nicely done. I figured this would be far more obscure, especially that frame.
Nausicaa is my favourite Miyazaki film. I think I like it more than Mononoke or Totoro.
That one threw me off, the low resolution made me think it was a video some sort of textile art, I was furiously checking my brain for documentaries about the textile industry.
Definitely obscure, but somehow quite distinctive! I didn’t quite remember the shot, but the blue, the animal on the shoulder, and the prophecy from Nausicaa made it feel like the right answer.
Didn’t hurt that I’m a big Miyazaki fan and so have seen it a couple of times with my kids, either. ;-)
I’ll get a fresh 20:20 up later today.
