Now, now. The new folks don’t know the unspoken rules, no documentaries por favor. Don’t go dragging TV in here (what, you get a 20:20 and then you have to show a shot from the next show?)
H
I’m just kidding. I’m sure documentaries are fine for most people. But my own personal house rule is that documentaries aren’t actually movies. And by “own personal house rule”, I mean that it applies only inside my own head.
Still, I’m sure I could up with some pretty awesome 20:20’s from Modern Family. That Jesse Tyler Ferguson fellow is a real hoot!

Documentary that doesn’t look like a documentary sounds like Errol Morris to me.

Yeah I noticed that people were shying away from documentaries. I would normally agree but I felt this one was something special. It’s definitely not a film for everyone, I’m not even sure I like it so much, but it’s just so unique and so much it’s own thing. It’s not Errol Morris but that’s a good reference, this is altogether a little more ‘poetic’ -for want of a better word- which in turn is so totally incongruous with the subject matter which in my view elevates it above being ‘merely’ a documentary.
Anyway here’s the last frame and sorry for all the bother.

And I’ve just realized that the first film I posted on this thread (Made in Britain) wasn’t a real film either but ‘made for TV’!
I think I just heard all your monocles falling on the floor.
;)
Ha, ha! Step lightly! That’s a lot of monocle glass to wade through.
And welcome to the forum, MarcJR!

Here’s another clue. If memory serves, Tom once recommended Kelly Wand see this film during one of their movie podcasts, I think because it’s sort of similar to the human centipede in that it’s the idea more than anything that makes it an uncomfortable watch. There’s no horror and nothing gratuitous or shocking in the film per se. And like the human centipede I’m at a loss as to whether I find it good or bad, it certainly is pretty though.
Oh yeah and the title’s three letters long.

I don’t know what it is, but I dig the lighting.

Yes! Zoo it is. And just like the last film I posted, it’s got an impressive opening shot, starts off like a science-fiction film and has almost no business being in the film other than pure prettiness.

Had a gut feeling about that one.
Beautifully made but one questionable decision, the treatment of the extra that played the cop. What they did to that poor chump was more disturbing than the subject matter.
Well, Linda Fiorentino hasn’t really been in that many movies.
I’ll put up a new one in about an hour.
Aw, man, if there’s one thing worse than a grampa movie, it’s a sports movie. So, let’s see, I’ll just mention a sports movie. Is it Miracle?

Looks like a ahem baseball movie Tom. Moneyball?
The “Sox” logo and the baseball jersey should give you a clue.
