Yeah. He really is an evil bastard.

Sums the movie up pretty well I think.

Sadly I’ve yet to see this movie! Is it any good?

Hard for me to say, I liked it but didn’t love it. I saw it once and felt that was good enough. It’s somewhere in a borderline state for me. It’s an entertaining and enjoyable movie if you like lots of action and violence. I think it’s on netflix so if you have that you can queue it up and watch it but I wouldn’t exert any effort into trying to find or buy it.

Ha ha, I accidentally won! Okay, stand by for this game to be fun – fun! – again!

-Tom

In what movie will you see this at the 20:20 mark?

As usual, no fair looking at the image name. Good luck!

-Tom

Oh, come on.

Am I allowed to guess this?

Look, if I wanted to hold up the thread, I could take screens from my copy of Chupacabra Terror, or a great German thriller I just saw called The Robber, or that awesome French thing The Son, because I just know no one but me has seen them. But not here to win. I’m here to play. So if you know the movie and you want to go next, by all means call it! Because I really like the 60:60 from this movie and I’m champing at the bit to post it.

-Tom

P.S. Dingus is not allowed to guess it.

All I’m saying is, I like the ones that make me think. I will be surprised if this one makes it on to 40:40, but yeah, not everyone looks at this the way I do, it’s cool.

Henry’s Crime?

I don’t know, this board surprises me all the time. It seems impossible to actually “win” at this as at least one person will always come up with the answer. That being said I feel I should know this movie but I just don’t. Or maybe the actress at least but I can’t quite place her.

The game concept we’ve spun around this thread works because it keeps the posting more or less controlled, while giving it a sense of purpose and momentum – even if that means it’ll clog up every once in a while because of some obscure flick. I don’t think it’d actually go anywhere if people were genuinely trying to stump one another.

At least it’s a more interesting take on the “films I watched recently” concept. It’s fun just following along, seeing what’s next.

I own The Son and it is excellent! I will try and post less obscure stuff though because I think the best part of this game is when you post something everyone thinks they know but can’t place because of blur/angle/actors.

When Rory Stewart posted frames from some ridiculously obscure Scottish Highlands flick from the 50’s that had everyone stumped, I was intrigued enough to go out and see a film that came up in the ensuing discussion and I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I’m not here to win either nor go out of my way to see people get stumped, but I am always excited at the thought of (re)discovering some gem when I see an awesome frame. That’s now one of the bullet points in my little rule book -if it has to be obscure, make sure it looks awesome. Likewise I get that we need to unclog the nozzle every so often with a healthy dose of frames from Twilight or somesuch.
I wouldn’t necessarily worry about keeping the momentum going so much as keep the pacing interesting.

PS- In my neck of the woods i.e Europe, The Son is anything but obscure (and it’s Belgian btw, please hand in your film nerd license.)

Orphan?

I watched Chupacabra Terror, and it was pretty distinctive, visually. I don’t think you’d be able to sneak that through.

Firstly, you guys don’t take me too seriously. I’m happy with whatever anyone wants to do with his turn. I just like grousing about how old-timey movies and foreign films aren’t as good as Armageddon.

Whoa, The Son is Belgian? Next I suppose you’re going to tell me Hercule Poirot isn’t French! And yeah, what a great, challenging, and unforgettable movie. I hope that actor is superfamous in France. Or Belgium. Or wherever they spend Euros. Because that movie is basically about holding a camera on his face while we learn things about him. So good.

Ha ha, you saw Henry’s Crime! We all knew Keanu could rob banks. But who knew he could do Chekov? By the way, the godawful Henry’s Crime was directed by the guy who did the superlative 44-Inch Chest. What happened there?

And, no, it’s not Henry’s Crime. Myth got it with Orphan. You’re up, Myth!

-Tom

Curses, foiled again!

And the later screens from Orphan are as follows. Sorry for the image quality, but I don’t have any way to pull screens from my Blu Ray. :(

“Why don’t you fucking spend more time with her?” “A’ight, bitch.”

Iconic shot of the supertalented Isabelle Fuhrman:

Isabelle Fuhrman is in a terrible Greg Kinnear movie called Salvation Boulevard. I’m keeping my fingers crossed she doesn’t pull a Chloe Moretz and disappear into a series of thankless roles:

-Tom

Hahaha. And then one minute after I post that, it’s over. That’s the most enjoyable foiling I’ve ever succumbed to!

Well, aside from the time this A ranked Romanian gal whipped my ass 15 - 5, and I was happy about it… but that was something entirely different. …
