I might be off on this but there was a jump in lens sharpness from the 70s to the 80s and I don’t wonder if (like when people shoot on Canon 5Ds nowadays and have ridiculously low apertures because it looks modern and shiny) the new sharpness sort of blinded cinematographers to the flatness of their lighting.

That’s one of my favorite car chases. I do love that movie and one reason is because of it’s realistic treatment of the action scenes (like that chase scene).

haha so weird, I looked at it for ages thinking “I know it but where???” and then it all flooded back, somewhere around 2002, I was off sick and my Mum let me rent something to pass the afternoon. I chose that. I think I enjoyed it though I can’t really remember.
