Not Top Hat, no…although I just watched Top Hat for the first time, and damn it was good. That dance scene under the gazebo was quite something. I liked Swing Time better, but still awesome.

Top Hat is one of my all time favorites. One of the first shows I did in college was Anything Goes, and the director insisted the entire company convene to watch a slew of Busby Berkeley movies and other old musicals. I was so annoyed, until we got to Top Hat. Good lord I fell for that movie.

Got it! Brilliant, brilliant movie. It’s about as close to perfect a film as I can conceive of. Every line is exactly where is should be. Very recommended.

Also Mirian Hopkins is quite a donut.

Despite the initial silliness of the flooding town, the movie is surprisingly tight without giant plot holes, because they kept it simple. It’s just a fun movie.

Well, I’m pretty sure it’s not A Serious Man. Or Breach. I see that even though it was at least made in my lifetime, Slumberland made sure to do a movie with a grampa car.
