Neither of those, I’m afraid.

The girl in that first shot looks really familiar, but I can’t put a name to her. Is that Lance Kerwin in the 40:40?
I was pretty sure the girl was Jessica Paré. Hence my choice. If it is her then I think I haven’t actually seen this particular film.
Looks kind of like a young Michael York in the 40:40 but I have no idea what movie that is.
Mega random prep-school-movie guesses: If… , or The Chocolate War
No good guesses yet. I’ll post 60:60 this evening, if no-one gets it before.
Tough one.
I think we can all agree it’s some kind of prep or boarding school of high school aged teens.
In the 40:40 looks like a mid to late 90’s Mercedes and Renault (or some other euro compact) in the background with yellow UK plates. Definitely a European movie taking place in the UK since it’s raining and in the 20:20 the calendar in the home ec room says June.
Completely stumped.

That looks like the back of Frank Langella’s head.
I’m actually surprised that this has turned out to be so hard. I figured everyone (of a certain age) had seen this movie. I must have seen it 10 times on HBO as a teenager.
Here’s a bonus 80:80 as a last ditch effort. I’ll give the answer in a bit:
If Nicole Kidman or Thandie Newton were in any of these, I’d guess Flirting. Constantly on HBO, vaguely European or Australian, school setting… is it The Year My Voice Broke?
No, sorry, neither of those. So, I guess I’m declaring myself a WINNER! happy dance
The film was a small teen romantic comedy from Scotland called Gregory’s Girl. It was made in 1981, and starred really no-one who went on to make anything very special, except for the role of Susan who was played by Clare Grogan, the singer in a band called Altered Images (you may remember their one big hit “Happy Birthday”). It was a great movie though, and it’s on Netflix Instant Watch, so I highly recommend you go watch it for yourself if you’re a fan of 80’s teen comedies.
Soooo, I’m not sure how the game proceeds…do I get another go, or what?
Never even heard of it. Nice job stumping the class, charmtrap.
Hey, thanks.
I guess I’ll just put up another one, since there’s no guidance on that in the rules. I have some shots I took earlier and never used, so might as well keep it rolling.
I’m going to go with Kramer vs. Kramer, because that looks like how I remember the kid (it’s been a while since I saw this), plus that looks like it could be Dustin Hoffman out of focus.
The haircut certainly seems about right for 1979.
It is indeed K v K. Nice one.
Whoops, looks like I dropped the ball. Here we go:
Looks like David Ducheveny (sp?). the most recent X-Files movie? I think the other one came up before, but this is the first time I’ve seen that screen.
