Has anyone done a more modern version of James Burke’s Connections? It doesn’t matter if you’ve seen a bunch of science shows before, because we often see those subjects in isolation, and Burke’s take is to tie them all together. Looks like the first season is available here.

I might have thought this was the best show ever while being a little high in college.

I haven’t yet seen Connected (2020 TV series) - Wikipedia, (on Netflix, so relevant! Link) but as a radiolab listener i’m familiar with Latif Nasser’s work.

This isn’t always the case in the UK, though it often is. Stuff that is intended for BBC 4 is usually more in depth. Interestingly, this show is described in the credits as being made by BBC Studios, but I don’t think there’s a BBC release for it and I think the previous Our Planet show on Netflix was made by some ex BBC nature unit people but no formal BBC involvement.

Connections is good, but Day the Universe Changed was my favorite. A bit dated now, but still good.

Anyway, no, I don’t think anyone had done anything like it since, and I doubt anyone ever will.

I swear I was going to get some work done today.

There’s a Dragon Age animated show? First episode preview is out.

Lol… saying “fire” when loosing an arrow is one of GRRM’s pet peeves.

On a whim I decided to what the pilot for Travelers and have discovered that the show got cancelled. Since I’m loathe to encounter spoilers about the show, I don’t really want to google if the storyline comes to some sort of satisfactory end or if its another one of the myriad of scifi shows that start with an interesting hook but fail to do anything with it and only tread water and get cancelled without any resolution.

Thus my question to anyone who might haver watched it: is it worth sinking time into it or should I rather move on?

I got pretty far into season 2 of Travelers and eventually bailed. It had some promise but I felt it fell into the trap of many time travel shows and lost coherence. YMMV.

Thanks! I was afraid of that… Luckily there is an oversupply of interesting shows to watch! Guess I’ll move on then.

I enjoyed the series Travelers. It has a conclusion and didn’t feel open ended to me. I agree S2 meandered somewhat.
S2 does have one of my favorite time loop episodes in “17 Minutes”. Make sure you watch that one! I like how they deal with traveler logic to solve that episodes problems. The main cast was secondary in that one so its almost standalone.
S3 is more mission of the week style with more definite good and bad guys.

I enjoyed Travelers too. I don’t remember much, but have a feeling it had a fairly satisfying ending. I generally like time travel stories though.

I’m watching “Hot Skull” on Netflix. It has a pretty great opening. It reminds me of my first year roommate in college, Ozgur.

Also, the Nam Shub of Enki by Stephenson. Yeah, that’s a thing.

I would be interested in hearing how it holds up. There don’t seem to be many critic reviews of it and the premise seems like it could go in some really dumb directions.

So far, when shop lady screams “Jabberer!” and hits the big red button is an unearned moment. Main guy’s love interest is pretty. I’ll let you know.

I was a huge Travelers fan.

BTW, has anyone watch the new animated series inside job? Any good? Looks like my jam.

I’ve enjoyed Inside Job. Give it a couple episodes and you should know if it’s for you - it’s been consistent throughout.

And a +1 to Travelers. It ended satisfying enough while leaving an opening for more seasons.

Inside Job is hilarious. It’s a guilty pleasure.

The little preview bit about ageless male actors really being youth vampires was funny enough to get me interested. Pretty good voice talent too-- Lizzy Caplan and Christian Slater among others IIRC.

EDIT: Dammit, why does Gboard always substitute but for bit? And of for if?

“If there’s two things I know about, it’s chemistry, and chemistry, and chemistry”

“Are you OK?”

“Just give me a second”

Ok, so I’ve been away from Netflix for a while. Heading back in at the end of this month or beginning of next month. Just preparing myself before hand using recommendations at Qt3 recently and on the internet.
