You should add Warrior Nun and Dragon Prince to that list.

It’s an acquired taste, but Netflix also has two seasons of the new Mystery Science Theater 3000.

I loved those two seasons! My favorite of the whole run. Highly recommended.

It’s really fun to watch MST3K with updated references and a bit more contemporary sense of humor.

While watch the scandinavian kaiju movie Troll on Netflix recently, I couldn’t get “Every country has a monster” out of my head.

I liked season 1 but couldn’t maintain interest in season 2.

This is all 100% cringe comedy. I haaaated it, but I hate cringe comedy.

All very good enjoyable films.

One of the greatest films ever. I need to rewatch it.

I’d add Wednesday and Sandman to your list. They’re pretty enjoyable.

Wednesday is already on the list.

Oh wow, I forgot all about Netflix creating a Sandman show. Glad to hear it turned out well!

If you like standup check out:
Taylor Tomlinson
Nate Bargatze
Wanda Skykes
Hanna Gadsby
Seth Myers
Hassan Minaj

Also, their show The Standups features comics giving 30 minute sets and there are some real gems on there: Brian Simpson, Rachel Feinstein, Aparna Nancherla, Beth Stalling, Niki Glaser, etc

Still in the midst of the The Sandman and Wednesday but both are very good and Wednesday might just be my favorite show of the year, it’s so well done. (And I loved HotD on HBO.)

Anyone into 1899? I’ve watched three so I am probably going to finish it but it’s kind of slow. I’m hoping the payoff is worth it.

I didn’t think it was. It’s atmospheric enough to watch, and you really want to learn what’s up, but the reveal is not very satisfying, and once you know what’s going on, nobody’s past behavior makes any sense at all. It’s all atmosphere. But I felt that way about Dark, too, so mine may be an outlier’s opinion.

Excellent film with a great cast. It appears to hew somewhat closely to the real history of the operation (although they throw a love triangle in there for some reason, but since it includes Kelly Macdonald I’ll allow it 😁).

It’s weirdly absurd and I think it’s great but might not be for everyone.

I think these 2 clips are a great litmus test:

It’s very much style over substance.

I didn’t take the ending literally, per se.

I’ll put my chip down on del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities as the best show of the year.

I agree about Wednesday. I’m 5 episodes in and it is so much better than I was expecting. Jenna Ortega is giving a great performance as Wednesday, and I’m really enjoying the story.

After finishing 1883, which for me was 10/10, I am now watching Giri/Haji (Duty/Shame) and it seems to be another 10/10. So good!

Giri/Haji is terrific. I so much wanted more of that show.

I love the characters in this. Everyone so well drawn and human, nobody good or evil.
Great charisma and chemistry. Just saw last episode, that scene on the rooftop…first they use such great situational humor from the two languages clashing, then there is the emotional black and white scene…I love it.

Yeah I totally want more but at the same time, this one season is just this perfect little thing now and I can enjoy it again in a few years.

And meanwhile I will listen to the soundtrack from time to time…

Ending of Episode 4 was masterful.

IIRC that show has actual battle dancing.

Oh yes.

Anyone seen The Recruit?

It is…kind of light, fast paced, not to be taken too seriously, often funny spy-ish action show that can at times pack a decent punch. I really liked it and hope it gets renewed and a proper conclusion.
