Glad you guys are enjoying it! Perhaps I was a bit harsh…
I watched the Luther: Fallen Sun movie yesterday, and I’m still shocked by the movie’s concept.
Luther is a meditative police procedural with inventive serial killers centered on a deeply self-destructive detective.
Luther: Fallen Sun is the action movie origin story of an MI5 super-spy?
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed it and I’m down for more of the same. But what a weird series of choices!
I can’t wait to watch that! :)
I just finished season 4 of Luther ( 2 episodes!) and will start season 5 this week, they are all apparently leaving Hulu soon.
We are one episode into Night Agent and so far it’s pretty standard government conspiracy thriller action fare, which is exactly what it was advertised as. Both leads are likeable, so it has that going for it as well. It’s nowhere near the best show we’ve seen in the past few months, but it’s nowhere near the worst either, and we are enjoying it.
I watched 6 episodes of Night Agent and like it. It is wholly unoriginal for sure, but well enough executed. I really like both the protagonist and antagonist couples, good chemistry there.

May have to keep an eye on this one.

Ok, you guys have convinced me to give the Night Agent another go. Will watch ep2 and see how it goes.
BTW I completely forgot that Shawn Ryan was also responsible for Terriers!! A show that was very cool and really ahead of its time.
That looks interesting. I’m in, thanks!
Picked up Netflix for a month again, and for some reason they’re bombarding me with Korean TV shows. Checked out one episode of Extraordinary Attonery Woo, a related show to “The Good Doctor” (which I like); though I don’t think it’s as good (EAW makes more fun oof the main character; TGD is a lot more subtle in my opinion). Lots of other shows there, and a fair bit of fantasy too. Does anyone know if any of them are good?
If you’re not worn out by zombie fiction, Kingdom is pretty great. It’s more about the political intrigue than the zombies anyway.
There are a bunch of good Korean shows on US Netflix now. Here are the ones I enjoyed the most:
-
All Of Us Are Dead. Zombie apocalypse set in a high school. Formulaic but well done, recommended if you like zombies (and who doesn’t?)
-
Kingdom. Zombies in ancient Korea! Also lots of politics.
-
Sweet Home. Horror, a world invaded by all manner of crazy monsters. Lots of fun if you turn your brain down to half-speed.
-
The Glory. Revenge drama about a girl who was bullied in high school. It’s good, but the first episode is very difficult to watch. Not quite Funny Games, but still pretty rough. It lightens up after that.
And you certainly know about the big dogs, Squid Game and Train to Busan.

I ended up enjoying Signal, but it is kind of drawn-out. On the other hand I gave up on Sisyphus after three episodes, just too slow and predictable. Good (if ridiculous) action scenes though.
Oh, and Space Sweepers is great. I also liked Silent Sea, but mostly for the ideas and less so for the execution.
A show called Sisyphus being a predictable slog is kinda on-the-nose.
huh, Night Agent must have been a big hit I guess since it is already renewed for S2
I enjoyed it but wonder if S2 will still have Rose character in a prominent role, since she is a normal civilian.
She’s also a cybersecurity expert, so she could get drawn in based on that. They also never actually addressed the sabotage of her business, which could come into play as part of the plot.
Good points, hopefully to be proven true.
We watched War Sailor from Norway. It’s a limited series — 3 episodes, so more like a film with intermissions really — about Norwegian merchant seamen caught up in the outbreak of the Second World War, then effectively drafted into serving in the North Atlantic convoy system. The story follows two close friends and the group of sailors they end up serving with, as well as the wife and children one of them left behind in Norway under German occupation.
We liked it a lot. It’s a compelling story about an interesting side of the war. The characters seem like real people, and the actors do a great job with the material they’ve been given. There is violence, of course — it’s a war! — but I didn’t find it gratuitous, just an attempt to be realistic about the circumstances.
Unstable is an light-hearted absurdist comedy that reminds me of better call Ted. First two episodes were fun

I was expecting light-hearted antics but Beef has been pretty on point so far - I’d recommend it.
