Just want to say fuck this post (no offense) because Kominski Method is hilarious and awesome

Yes it is! Virtual high five.

Dead To Me has been renewed for one final season.

Yay! I have to say, I like the “3, maybe 4 season” model that Netflix seems to be sticking with. There’s a lot to be said for working within limits.

On the whole I’d agree. Although it is painful when it’s a show you really enjoy that you just feel you could keep watching as long as they’d be willing to make more. Like Lost in Space. But on the other hand, I guess getting only 3 seasons means that it will go out with some kind of finality next season.

Yeah, true. Some shows are more open-ended in concept, and a short run is going to leave possibilities on the table.

Others, like GLOW (which I really enjoyed) have a more limited natural lifespan, and I think could actually benefit from having that lifespan more clearly understood from the outset.

Only if the limit is understood and known to creators before the dev of last season commences.

I am still pissed about Santa Clarita Diet yes

Yeah, that’s the drawback, and on reflection I can’t think of a reliable way around it. I guess I’d just like to see more show-runners approach seasons as self-contained wholes, rather than spinning out a bunch of story lines they can’t resolve.

Floor is Lava is just goofy fun.

I’m finally coming around to Berlin Babylon and, holy crap, it is fantastic. In comparing German shows, I find Dark to be a total slog, but I’m totally enraptured by BB. Impressive period recreation for the most part.

Trying to watch Cursed. Girl with a sword. Pendragon. Retelling of Arthurian tales, with native Fae/not-Celts going against Red Paladin Christian inquisitors. Not great. Not as horrible as Britannia, which I couldn’t even watch one episode of.

Reminds me a lot of Cornwell’s Warlord Chronicles, complete with a Merlin that seems to lack actual magic powers.

Babylon Berlin is gorgeous. Dark and clever and visually beautiful.

Yes I tried Dark for 2/3rd of the first season and finally gave up. Its not only a slog but so convoluted, its ridiculous. I usually like these types of shows but Dark just wasnt working for me.

Amen. It sorta reminded me a bit of Twin Peaks (seemingly isolated small town, everyone with secrets), but there’s a whole supertanker of metaphysical mumbo jumbo/pseudoscience BS and frustrating Lost-style mystery boxing going on.

I just finished this. Started out alittle slow and rough, but after I few episodes I was really enjoying it. I found the different take refreshing. I would be interested in a second season.

I watched the first season of Dark. While I agree it’s confusing at the beginning I eventually went with the flow and by the end of S1 I was pretty clear on who was who and what they were doing. Heck, I even guessed the “surprise” from the end of the season (granted, it’s not a big thing to guess but I almost never guess stuff like that!).

I’m not saying “you gotta watch 10 hours to start enjoying it” - I thought it was pretty entertaining from the start. If you don’t like it after the first couple episodes I don’t know if it’ll grow on you. But what I am saying is that if you’re put off by a confusing storyline, S1 does a good job of untangling stuff by the time it ends.

Come back in 2 seasons :/

Yeah, I loved most of the first season, and then it just got too silly for me to continue with it.

Glad to hear Cursed picks up.

In hindsight I wish I had stopped watching Dark after the first season. The first season didn’t reach any kind of conclusion, but was an enjoyable journey. The second season became bloated with extra characters and plotlines to a dizzying degree but I was holding out hope for a strong third season to wrap it all up. THEN in the third season they really went for the bloat to the point I gave up after 2 episodes. I reached a point where no amount of wrap up could stitch together the insanely meandering disjointed narrative. Sigh.
