Well damn, now you have me missing the show too. Didn’t realize his focus was so widespread.

Two more shows cancelled, bummed about I Am Not Ok With This

Same here. I never watched the other one but I Am Not Okay with This was pretty good, and now we’ll have no idea how it progresses (unless it’s based on a graphic novel or something).

Looking for something new to watch I stumbled on High Score on Netflix. Its a documentary series on the advent of the video gaming phenomena and focuses not just on the well known but on the unsung heroes of the industry as well. Its a bit disjointed at times because it jumps between stories often but its actually pretty interesting and of course quite nostalgic as I grew up in the early console gaming years. Fun show if youre interested it that era.

Chapter 1 is history for me, I didn’t know most of this stuff.
Chapter 2 (Nintendo) was a bit exhausting because of all the jumping around. Also didn’t know most of this stuff. Never owned a Nintendo.

Chapter 3 is going to be D&D and RPGs, I think the later chapters will be more familiar. Will be interesting to see if there’s stuff that I won’t already know.

Found an error in Chapter 6? 15 minute mark they are talking about how internet games existed in the 90s, but they were slow games. They show Centurion: Defender of Rome. This game had no multiplayer.

Also annoyed they don’t mention Commodore/Amiga AT ALL but see fit to mention the Apple 2 a couple of times.

Didn’t even finish the first episode of Hoops, it’s real bad.

I watched the first episode of High Score, it was better than I expected (I’m not much of a documentary watcher). I knew the stuff about the Channel F, but it’s good they put it in there. I didn’t know about the expansion-board guys, that was pretty cool. I’m glad they had a segment about Nolan Bushnell (although it was quite short), but I wish they’d added a sentence about “and then he founded Chuck E Cheese”, because that’s hilarious.

So I actually watched all 10 episodes of Cursed over the span of about a month. It was Frank Miller meets CW all the way. I went in with low expectations, and the show did it’s best not to exceed them. It’s certainly not great television, but in the end it’s still Arthurian legend adjacent, had decent quality sets and scenery, and a story just interesting enough that I am curious to see what happens should there actually be Season Two.

We started watching Teenage Bounty Hunters over the weekend and so far it’s been a winner. Aside from one jarring coincidence in the first episode, the writing was pretty good. It’s about two teenage girls who attend a Christian high school (but who are only nominally Christian) in Georgia who start working as bounty hunters (teaming up with an actual bounty hunter who also runs a frozen yogurt shop). It riffs on the white upper class ‘Christian’ lifestyle without being mean about it (I was in that environment for a few years so I’ll say what they show rings mostly true).

Only saw the first episode but we liked it.

That show deserved its own thread:

Well dang. I blame Discord.

It is a little spooky about the Netflix recommendation system. I had just ask google 'what’s the name of the netflix show about video games." The google gal tells me “High Score”. Log into to my Netflix account and my feature show is none other than High Score

Do Google and Netflix share data?

Looking forward to watching it.

No they don’t. It’s a coincidence, and not a particularly unlikely one. It’s after all a new show that will be showing up as featured with a very high frequency.

Not google, but Facebook was selling contents of your instant messages? Netflix and Spotify could read your instant messages. Why do people still use assholes that gave away your instant messages?

I never post on FB but I have used instant message at times to contact a friend. I don’t have emails for everyone. I feel like my exposure to and contamination by FB is very minimal.

New season of Chef’s Table comes out Wednesday about BBQ. Yes they do go to Texas, but instead go to Snow’s, which is spectacular. Also feature Mexico and Australia as well as a South Carolina staple, Rodney Scott’s Whole Hog.

Random timing but a short making of The Witcher docu has popped up.

Would be interested to hear impressions of Away if anyone has any.

Yea just watched first episode and its very, very melodrama first and a distant second anything interested in a remotely accurate telling of what a mission to Mars might be. I made a joke earlier referencing the sappy show ‘This is Us’ when the trailer came out and man that’s not a joke after watching. I’ll be passing on further episodes.

I’ll wait for the second season of For all Mankind and the upcoming series based on ‘The right Stuff’ for my space fix. This show ain’t it.

Wait, what???
