Yay! Did you like Afternoon Delight, Woolen?

I was really won over by Katheryn Hahn. I’d seen her in various small comedic roles, so it was cool to see a movie built around her doing what was essentially a serious role. She’s absolutely wonderful. And so self-deprecating in the movie, which I think is a skill that comes with being a comedic actress.

Jason Bateman makes things good. Alia Shawkat makes them great!

I’ll have a new 20:20 up in a bit. I’m in the middle of computer updating hell right now.

-Tom

I thought that was Katheryn Hahn. I really like her. She’s so good at making good things better. I am so looking forward to seeing her in this, now.

-xtien

As opposed to when I told you to watch it before??? Sheesh, you try to recommend a movie to a guy, but until he sees four frames from it…

Okay, let’s see how this frame goes. In what movie will you see this at the 20:20?

-Tom

Casino Royale?

I know. I know. Telling me to watch things is always a gamble. Good thing you’re such a good dealer.

Wait. Is there another word for that?

-xtien

But seriously, getting past the name of that movie is really difficult. That’s one of the worst songs ever.

I will endeavor to watch it now. I mean it.

-xtien

Yes, gotta love Kathryn Hahn. So underappreciated.

And that is Croupier.

Yes, it is! Featuring the star of Wing Commander: Privateer, a young new talent named Clive Owen. And directed by the director of Flash Gordon, which I recently tried to watch again. Absolutely unwatchable. Egad. I was hoping it would be enjoyable for camp value, but it’s just so dippy and, as near as I can tell, earnest. And my god, those sets and costumes.

Anyway, the rest of the Croupier frames are as follows. Here’s a chick who’s totally into the croupier. She’s about to give him a ride. If you know what I mean.

This chick is also totally into the croupier. They’re having a sleepover. If you know what I mean.

This is the croupier’s novel.

A promising enough beginning, I suppose. Sadly, no Gina McKee* frames. So I grabbed one because I could:

Back to you, Mr. Horde.

-Tom

  • “Allow me to pop a jaunty little bonnet on your purview and ram it up your shitter with a lubricated horse cock.”

Unforeseeable…that’s what you are.

-xtien

Man, I forgot just how criminal it was that Gina McKee didn’t become a bigger star. That woman is utterly gorgeous.

Oh, no, no no no. Clive Owen wasn’t in Wing Commander: Privateer. He was in Privateer 2: The Darkening. Privateer 2 wasn’t as well respected as WC:P as a game, but I loved it. The cast also featured luminaries such as Christopher Walken, Brian Blessed, Jurgen Prochnow, John Hurt, and David Warner. Diane Duane’s script also (coincidentally?) shared with George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones (which also came out that year) the odd quirk of changing the honorific “Sir” to “Ser”. Wing Commander: Privateer might have featured giant cat-men to fight and an optional digital speech expansion, but did not have any FMV scenes.

Personally, I was so impressed with a friend’s copy of Privateer 2 that I bought a copy myself, even though I didn’t own a IBM PC-compatible and my family and I had been an Apple or Macintosh family going back to the ][e. It was my first step into a larger world.

Croupier was pretty good too.

Let’s keep this party going

20:20

Is that At Middleton?

-xtien

Yup. Filmed in Eastern Washington, of all places.

40

60

80

In Spokane specifically? Because that looks like the prop room at Gonzaga University’s (my alma mater’s) theater.

Both Gonzaga and WSU served as Middleton.

Hey there. Sorry for the delay.

The new twenty:

-xtien

Medicine Man

Ding ding ding. Thank you Woolen.

John McTiernan. Heh.

The forty:

sixty-one:

The eighty-whatever:

You have the conch, Woolen Horde!

-xtien

Alright, let’s see if anyone gets this. I’m betting it’ll go deep, or even unsolved. The 20 isn’t very helpful.
