Winner! It is Better Off Dead, perhaps the eightiest of all Eighties movies. More shoulder pads and permed hair per square inch than you’re likely to find outside a John Hughes flick. One of my all-time favorites.
I made my teenage daughters watch it the other month. I had to explain what a paperboy was. And a newspaper.
The 40, in which our hero is tormented by the mailman.
The 60, just before Ricky’s Mom explodes. She ends up being fine; she just can’t eat any spicy foods for a while.
The 80, featuring the perfect girlfriend (at least according to 15-year-old Tin Wisdom): exotically foreign; self-sufficient and tough; yet in need of rescuing somehow. Plus she totally knows her way around a car. If you know what I mean. And by that I mean she’s a mechanic.
Skiing is easy. You go that way - really, really fast. If something gets in your way: turn.
There is no 100, but here’s the closing scene.
Aww! Taylor Negron, who just died in january…
Good pick and great guess, baren.
That’s exactly what I thought as I looked through those frames, Nightgaunt. I had forgotten Taylor Negron was in that, and I immediately felt this pang upon seeing that picture.

I really need to come up with a better way to capture these. They always come out so tiny.

Edit: I miss Taylor Negron. Sigh. Why did Young Doctors in Love basically disappear from history?
It may not be the capture, it may be imgur. There are different sizes you can choose from.
Damn, I know I’ve seen that El Camino before, but I just can’t place it.
Probably that Clint Eastwood movie where he is the cranky old guy.
Funny…
Edit: That guy looks just like my dad. Spooky.
Whoah, when did they make a Splinter Cell movie? And when did Sam get so old?
Oh man, I think you might have gotten it!

It is not the Machinist. Sadly, I have walked out of my house without keeping the links to the later screens, so the next will have to wait until this evening.
For the record, the movie where Clint Eastwood is the cranky old guy is Gran Torino, not Unforgiven, in which he’s a cranky old guy in the West. And the car in Gran Torino is, well, a Ford Gran Torino, not a Chevy El Camino.

Yeah, I knew what he meant. I was making a funny.
Jason, I think your humor/sarcasm meter needs adjusting…
That’s Michael Ironside, right?
Starship Troopers! “They sucked his brains out.” If only…
OK, get off my lawn.
And I’m really stumped on this one, Michael Ironside looks old enough in the 40 that it’s got to be pretty recent, but if it’s not the Machinist…
