I’m curious how you create them. You’re obviously not just finding them on the web.
He could just be putting them in his PC DVD player and recording the screen and converting them to a .gif, or if not a PC DVD a streaming service. I make a ton of gifs for this very thread that way (including Liz Lemon above).
I don’t know what this means, but it sounds cool.
I think @marquac has a method that is a bit more complex. Actually I know it is, because he made this for me one time:
I was working on a concept for the podcast of the movie Life and thinking about this episode of TOS. He’s really freaking good at making these things. I always look forward to his 3x3 preview posts, although often I have to avoid them until we do the show.

I use Camtasia but there are lots of utilities that allow you to record the full screen or just a small piece of the screen. Then you can edit and export the video clip to media, including .gif format. I capture stuff and make gif files off Netflix frequently! :)
My method is quite laborious because I’m not very tech savvy and I’m also pretty dumb. While any hardware blu-ray player on a computer won’t actually play store bought blu-ray movies without having to buy a piece of software to play it, there are ways around that and any DVD hardware will play DVD movies provided the region is correct. Obviously I would never download anything.
I then use Media Player Classic and take a screenshot of each frame that I want to use. I try not to remove any frames so it’s 24 frames per second that I am capturing. Then I use a program called Photoscape to rename my screenshots to just numbers, 001 - ### because Photoscape doesn’t like merging files that have long file names and then I use Photoscape’s Animated Gif maker to create the actual gif.
No doubt there are easier ways to create a gif, but this is simple if not tedious and works well for me.

I’ve probably been told this before. I cannot get my blu-rays to play on my computer blu-ray player, and I assumed it was because my video card is too old.
Hmph.

Dude, you need to buy you a younger video card.
I’ll get right on that.

Marquardson, you magnificent bastard!
And I’ll gladly tell the Detroit story, but we should probably save it for the Detroit podcast. Spoiler: it involves one of the movie’s cast members!
