You can’t copy/paste gifs in Discourse. You need to link or download/upload.
Edit: apparently Discourse also doesn’t like .webp
No worries. I can’t figure out how to post gifs from my phone. I have to rely upon my thirteen-year old son to do that. I’m not kidding.

I actually knew that, and I’ve been uploading my gifs, and worked just fine up until, apparently, just now. Bummer.
See now that’s an animated gif dammit! Now I’m just mad.
Except it’s not. When I right-click to save it, the file extension is .jpeg. Same as the others. Is there some kind of weird conversion going on?

To get GIFs from my phone into Discourse, I always save them to my phone first and then upload. Copy and Paste never works.
Well, if I look at it in my Photos app, it’s a moving gif. So yeah, at some point when I hit the little upload icon, it’s becoming a JPEG* I guess. And that’s probably about as much need be said about this, on with the moving pictures!
