Had a sea lion once do this to my shoe. I didn’t rescue it.
I hate to be the one to say it, but the people in that video are dumb. What did they think was going to happen? I’d almost say people who assume their Disney-fied image of animals translates into the wild deserve what they get, but I’ll just blame Disney instead. Thanks, Disney!
So fess up, @TranquilityBase, what were you doing that made the sea lion think your shoe was food?

In my very weak defense of the parties involved, I have to say that in my ones of hours spent observing these creatures, I’ve never seen this sort of aggressive behavior. My incident occurred very shortly after banging my shoe (and by shoe, I mean flip-flop) against the pier to free it of loose sand, and the following purloining of said footwear was immediately greeted with oohs and wooahs by the besotted bystanders (including yours, personally)
All that said, I’m quite impressed by the asian dude (who seems to be about my age) that immediately dives in and rescues the girl. I know that I would have stood there and continued to film the entire incident like a total twat. Or maybe not
@ChristienMurawski, you were correct, it was for the toy 3x3.
